The Rap Sheet of Chip Conway

This rap sheet interview is posted at the Rap Sheet Dossier at http://rap-sheet.tripod.com and a few other selected places.  The views expressed by Crimefighter and his guest do not necessarily reflect the views friends, associates, co-workers, organizations or any of the other six billion people on planet Earth.

It has been an awfully long time since I've interviewed anyone.  For a while there I had people wanting to beat down my door to be interviewed, then it all went dead suddenly.  Wonder why?  Maybe I got busy and so did everyone else...who knows?  Well finally I got someone to interview, and it's someone who's not in my home fed, it's actually someone in the fed across town, 3CW.  This gentleman is one of the smaller, lighter guys in the sport, who started as a bantumweight and wears a mask.

CF:  First question...how does Chip Conway best represent MacArther and Carter counties?

CC:  MacArther and Carter counties???  What you mean?

CF:  Okay that was a joke, they don't exist.  Wanted to see how you would answer.  Anyway, mystery guest please sign in and introduce yourself.

CC:  "The Golden Eagle" Chip Conway represents freedom among those in 3CW and a crimefighter outside of wrestling.

CF:  How so?  I am known as the Crimefighter.

CC:  Yes but I am the superhero and superheroes fight crime so outstide wrestling.  I'm busy catching criminals and putting there freedom to an end.  And in 3cw there is a pair of criminals that I cant stand and they are the Irish Revolution.  And meanwhile that fight still continues in 3CW and I think it will for quite some time to come.  Gotta give 'em props they are strong but there also cheaters and NOBODY likes a cheater.

CF:  Where did the nickname "The Golden Eagle" come from?

CC:  LOL the golden eagle I thought of one night because the eagle is two things to me.  One is that its the symbol of the nation that I represent and its also a big underdog in its battles so I thought I would represent it.

CF:  Now how did you decide you wanted to be a wrestler?

CC:  Well I have always and I mean always been a fan of wrestling. And back when I was 13 another wrestling fed started in town and I got to watch it weekly.  So I decided to join 3CW a couple years afterwards and I'm loving the experience.

CF:  How did you find 3CW?

CC:  Slipped, tripped and hit my head fell outta the sky and landed on their front porch.

CF:  Now you're one of the smaller sized men on the roster, at a bantumweight of 120 pounds, but still have a height of six feet.  How do you see the state of the wrestling world for the smaller, lighter guys in the sport?

CC:  Correction, 140lbs.   Which yes I'm still the smallest, but I use my speed to help fight.  I think as long as us little guys know how to use our speed and quickly outsmart our oppenent which I do alot I think we could be juss as big as them bigger guys wrestling wise across the state.

CF:  You've been with 3CW since the group held it's first show in April, how do you assess this first year of the promotion and your involvement thereof?

CC:  Well I juss give my 100% everytime I'm in the 3CW ring wether it would be training or a show I give it my all and I think that helps me when I wrestle.  That and the other thing I use and that's heart if you love the sport as much as I do then you put your heart behind it and it encourages you to do the things you do inside the ring.

CF:  Besides wrestling with 3CW, you signed to wrestle with Great American Wrestling as well, how did that come about?

CC:  Well they connected with 3CW and one day i showed up and they told me the date of the next show and also told me I would be wrestling in a battle royal for Great American Wrestling (GAW) and so I went and lost but still had fun working with the newer guys.

CF:  I can't leave out the fact there has been strife between the two wrestling promotions in town, which went past the boiling point in 2003, but relations have gotten a lot better toward the end of this year.  How did you see what was transpiring behind the scenes?

CC:  Well I'm no different from the others and we all say it would be great if we got together and worked with each other but both feds know that can't happen due to the history.  But I personally hold nothing against NMW not to say others do I'm juss saying I don't because I have no reason too.

CF:  I'll also make note that you were the first wrestler on the 3CW roster to have a match against an NMW wrestler (though a GAW wrestler was also in the match being a triple threat), your thoughts on making the precedent?

CC:  Well it was fun working with both NMW and GAW in juss one match let alone the first one to have a 3CW/NMW match with the extra GAW wrestler in there it was very interesting.

CF:  Now you chose to wear a mask, people have various reasons they wear masks when they wrestle, what is your reason for being masked?

CC:  Yes I wear a mask cause when I was three, my face and arm were bitten by a dog.  I had 389 stiches in the arm and 120 in the face.  I still have the scars today but that don't stop me from doing what I love.

CF:  So after the attack and medical reconstruction, what was it like growing up?

CC:  It was hard trying to grow up without a mom she was always gone when I was lil so my grandmother raised me once I turned 11 or so and she taught me alot.  Then Jan. 23rd 2003 she passed away and I'm currently living with my uncle on my mom's side and it's going pretty good.  Dad was never there either.  Now he is a lil bit but still chooses other things over me so yeah its rough being me.

CF:  What are your current goals in wrestling...if not title belts around your waist?

CC:  Current goals lets see.  1. To be the biggest underdog in central Illinois wrestling.   2. To capture a title.

CF:  Now I've looked around and there are a fair number of people close to your weight level, can you be a bigger underdog than the other welterweights, featherweights and bantumweights around?

CC:  Yeah I think if I keep working hard like I am then I will accomplish that real soon and if they keep sending me guys bigger than me imma keep taking them down.

CF:  Do you prefer to wrestle superheavyweights or other welterweights?

CC:  Well I can't answer that juss yet havent wrestled anyone my weight or even close.

CF:  You've never had a match with someone like Billy Reno?

CC:  Nope but I know I want a match with him cuz he is the one I used to watch back in the day and also the one of the bunch of people telling me I should wrestle when I was juss a referee.

CF:  You refereed?  I've never seen Chip Conway referee a match.

CC:  No back when I first 3CW I signed as a referee but at the same time I was training to wrestle.  And during my training I still said no to wrestling due to my size but so many 3CW wrestlers were saying I should wrestle so I finally gave in and wrestled Mickey McNelson in my first match ever.  I have quit refereeing.

CF:  Currently you're feuding with whom...and why has this feud being going on for so long?

CC:  The Irish Revolution because there Irish punks coming into america my turf and thinking there gonna get away with cheating our guys outta their matches no no no its not happening.  So its a good hard fight right now--its a lil calm but trust me when its all over the Irish Revolution will be kissing my American butt.

CF:  Currently the Irish Revs feuding with a fellow Irishman, Lucky Dane.  If it's all about Irish Rev's patroitism, why are they going after their own countrymen in Dane?

CC:  Well he doesn't disrespect our country like the three others do.

CF:  So because Dane is not America-bashing, he's a traitor to Ireland?

CC:  He is a very respectful person and he works hard for what he gets.  He don't cheat, he don't jump people in the back, he don't disrespect any.  He means well.

CF:  It's now time for the word association game, I say a person, place or thing and you comment on them.  So leading off...Hurricane & Rosey.

CC:  Well I'm better than Hurricane and Rosey needs to find a new personality.  He's a big man, he should be playing more of a Rikishi part.

CF:  El Diablo Silverado (now unmasked).

CC:  I think the guy has lots of talent and if he keeps working hard and doin what he does in the ring he should have no trouble getting picked up by a big fed.

CF:  Triple H

CC:  Banging the bosses daughter should not get you the world title.

CF:  Sho Funaki

CC:  Who? Oh yeah Smackdown's #1 annoucer and currently #1 cruiserweight with the title and I think he deserves it.

CF:  The WWE Cruiserweight Title

CC:  The thing I wish to capture someday in my career.

CF:  Would Vince McMahon actually ditch their new minimum policy of six feet, 225 pounds?

CC:  Well I dunno but I will continue to work as hard as I do to get to where I wanna go and capture some gold here and there cuz that would show me that I have done it that I have worked hard enough cause right now i keep pushing myself because I feel I have something to prove.

CF:  NWA TNA

CC:  A great fed that needs a new television station and time to get recognized.

CF:  3CW

CC:  What are motto stands for HARDCORE AND TO THE POINT!!!

CF:  I should say 3CW has geared itself more to hardcore fighting than wrestling.  Is that the style of wrestling you prefer or if not what is it?

CC:  Well for a little guy yes cuz then its a level playing field no matter the size of my opponent.  But for the bigger guys I think we do more wrestling than hardcore with them

CF:  I asked this question of Real World Jeremy, I'll ask you this question.  WWE used to have a hardcore title, now they don't and only do the hardcore matches once in a while.  NMW does hardcore matches or variations of every once in a while.  In 3CW hardcore matches are commonplace.  Is hardcore style wrestling a niche thing or can having hardcore matches all the time be sustainable?

CC:  Well I think hardcore wrestling is what the fans get into the most and that's why we are a hardcore fed.

CF:  Seriously?  Then why do you think the WWE junked their hardcore title?

CC:  I dunno why but it wasn't a good idea.  I think they have lost fans.

CF:  Is there anything in a hardcore match that you absolutely do not want to see or do that other feds like CZW are doing?

CC:  Well I personally don't care how hardcore it may get I will do whatever it takes to win.

CF:  And that would include using light tubes and stapling dollar bills?

CC:  I dont care I would have to suck it up and get back in there.  That's where the heart comes into play cuz then you wonder how much more of a beating you can take and your heart tells you to either continue or give it up.

CF:  I can't justify mutilating yourself.

CC:  Neither can I really but all I know is if I want something bad enough I will work very hard to get it.

CF:  GAW

CC:  Needs help with their roster other than that the fed itself is doin good with what they got and the short time they have been up and running.

CF:  NMW

CC:  Well..............they were the first wrestling fed here in Springfield, IL and they have good talent and have worked with their guys at GAW show(s).  I liked NMW alot better back in the old days under different ownership then it is now and I liked it back when they had their old owners in charge.  Since then I think NMW has fell a lil bit not show wise but business wise.

CF:  Has it become too easy to start a wrestling organization?

CC:  I think so these days cuz juss this year I dunno the exact number but I know alot of feds opened up here in central Illinois.

CF:  Nemesis

CC:  Has worked hard for what he has around his waist right now [3CW Heavyweight Championship] and no body can deny that.

CF:  The McNelson Brothers

CC:  Ahhhhhhhh a big green virus in 3CW that I, "The Golden Eagle" Chip Conway is gonna help demolish.

CF:  Why is Mickey McNelson billing himself as a flyweight?

CC:  Have no idea but if that's his true weight then how come I'm heavier than him on the sheets, but such an underdog in person.  Thats a point I wanna get across to.  I'm looking to be the biggest underdog in central Illinois.  Cuz I have yet to face anyone that is the same size as me.  So far Chuck Diamond is the only one close enough to my size that I have faced but then again there's not many small guys in 3CW.

CF:  Chuck Diamond

CC:  A scary individual.

CF:  Jokaz.

CC:  A guy that has worked hard and showed up everyday in training and its paying off.

CF:  Joe Cain

CC:  Great wrestler on the way.

CF:  Isn't he smaller than you?

CC:  Yes.

CF:  Won't you want to wrestle him cause he's about your size?

CC:  Yeah if me and him had a match I'm sure we could give the fans a high flying hell of a match.

CF:  "The Freshman" Matt Boston

CC:  Good to work with in ring has tons of mobility and flexable.

CF:  Billy Reno

CC:  Man me and him go way back and he's a good guy to know in and outta the ring.  He takes a beating every match but is always there to show up for the next one and that takes heart so he truely has his heart behind it juss as much as I do.

CF:  Jaxson Pride

CC:  Thats my bro there and wouldn't mind backing him up anytime cuz I know he would have the same for me cuz thats what makes this country great.  All Americans are there for each other at the end.

CF:  "Alpha Male" Guy Smith 10-32

CC:  Too cocky at times.

CF:  Michael Shard

CC:  Good wrestler and has a bright future ahead

CF:  Dickie Williams

CC:  Well let's juss say he loves to play in that ring and has proving he can get the job done when its needed also needs a band-aid after every match.

CF:  Why does he bleed so much anyway?

CC:  I have no idea but imma look into it cuz the chipster is curious.

CF:  The Animals

CC:  Funny entertainers and I admire their style of "humor to win matches".  Have used it many times.

CF:  JC Michaels

CC:  Too much mouth not enough wrestling.

CF:  Anyone in particular you'd like to shoot at?

CC:  Yeah that XXXX referee that reffed my main event match at Hardcore Hell.  He said I tapped out in that submission hold and I didnt tap out to XXXX XXXX it.  I heard him say it and got outta the ring then I juss went to the back I was too hurt to argue without hitting him.

CF:  What should we see out of Chip Conway in 2005?  Future opponents and goals?

CC:  Well my New Year's resolution is to capture the 3CW National title in 2005 and I think you will see me invent some newer moves and one thing you can be sure about is that Chip Conway will always be there for the fans in 2005.

CF:  Well...any other final comments?

CC:  YEAH "AMERICA IS FREE SO KEEP IT THAT AWAY AND WE WONT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS"  That's my new catch pharse, it sucks but it will work.

This interview was not actually done in all of one session, due to time constraints and such bits and pieces of this chatter was done over the course of several days.  Anyway, on to the next interview!  Who will it be?  Who knows...until next time, this is the Crimefighter saying bustin' ain't easy!
