The Rap Sheet -- by the Crimefighter
Special Streaming Video Edition #2
4/26/2K3

This Rap Sheet is posted in news:rec.sport.pro-wrestling.info and http://abermud.tripod.com/rapsheet. Still plowing through the various streaming video files scattered about the net. Got a better variety of bouts together so this time around the "card" consists of:

Independent Championship Wrestling out of North Carolina

"Mean" Marc Ash vs. "Felon" Lex Reed - Hardcore Match
Amber Holly vs. Leilani Kai - Ladies Match
"Mean" Marc Ash vs. The Bounty Hunter

Atlantic Coast Championship Wrestling out of South Carolina

Mike Draven vs. Flex Phenom

Steel Rage Pro Wrestling out of Oklahoma

The Rebel vs. Vinnie Valentino - Tables Match
Tiger Kid vs. Tarantula
Dexter Hardaway vs. Big Daddy Moore - Hardcore Match

Assault Championship Wrestling out of Connecticut

Riptide & Mercedes Martinez vs. Trinity & Princess Ariel - Ladies Tag Match
Knight's Coven vs. La Familia - Six Match Hardcore Match

I've found a number of videos that are of 34K video quality, but the frame rate is so low that it's not worth watching. I have also found videos done by one of those backyard wrestling groups, and I'm dubious about reviewing one of those cause I don't believe in the concept of this type of wrestling. It should take place in an actual ring, where the people involved are trained properly. Note that some of these are only online for download for a limited time.

I seem to be doing a lot of matches with Marc Ash involved in it. Well, it's just that I'm finding a number of them available to review. Leading off, this match from ICW, http://www.indywrestlingtv.com

Hardcore Match - ICW Heavyweight Title
(c)"Mean" Marc Ash 6'1", 220lbs. Myrtle Beach, SC w/ Chief Wahoo McDaniel vs. "Felon" Lex Reed 6'5", 270lbs. J. Reuben Long Detention Center (Conway, SC) w/ Ralph Harky & Scotty McKeever -- Announcers are Curtis B. & Marc Ash. This match I estimate occurred sometime in 2001, since McDaniel passed away in 4/2002. Ash notes we were all members of "Bad Company" and were so bad they didn't like each other. The ropes are sagging all over. Lockup and shove by the Felon. Lockup, another shove by Felon. Leg takedown by Ash, ties up the legs, cover gets one. Headlock takedown by Ash. Felon bails out. Back in side headlock by Felon, hammerlock, reversal and in the ropes. Lockup, armbar, hair yank by Felon. Chop, Irish whip, elbow by Felon gets one. Reed pounds away. Rollup by Ash gets one and Felon leaves. Ash kicks Reed outside, grabs a pole and nails him. Reed slow to get in, Ash gets low blowed. Elbowdrop by Reed and a choke, boot lace rake, cover for one. Ash kicks Reed in the head and chokes him with a foot. Reed leaves. Ash fetches another stick and uses it on Reed...out of our view though. Now Ash fetches a chair and whacks him in the head. Cover, gets two? Can't see anything on the other side with the one camera. Ash swings a chair and Reed blocks it covers for two. Toss into the post by Reed, kicks away. Elbow by Reed meets the floor instead of Ash. Reed is bleeding, Ash is tossed into the bleachers, then back into the ring. Cover for two. Pickup, suplex by Reed gets two. They're slow to get up. Ash shoves Reed into the cover, McKeever trips up Reed, Ash with the showstopper (Ash Kicker), Irish whip, spinning neckbreaker, pins him. A bit long and boorish at times.

WINNER and STILL CHAMP: "Mean" Marc Ash pin -> 12:20 mins. *

These next three matches came on one video file, which is their ICW Pro Internet TV streaming video show available for download at http://www.indywrestlingtv.com/ICWShow33.wmv for a LIMITED time at video quality of 96k.

Amber Holly vs. Leilani Kai -- Don Brower and Marc Ash commentate the match. Kai takes Holly down, Holly reverses but Kai makes the ropes. Lockup, arm wringer by Kai. Kai's been in the business forever--since Wrestlemania ONE. Amber reverses and takes Kai down for one. Kai tries a pin but Amber clamps her legs around Kai's body and tries squeezing the air out of her. Kai positions Amber's shoulders down but doesn't get a pin. Kai breaks free and ties up a leg but Amber reverses that for her own. Leilani rakes the face to get out. Kai with a double slap and choke with the foot and the ropes. Snap mare gets two. Irish whip by Kai meets a boot and a hurraconranna. Irish whip Holly and an elbow for two. Holly with a rollover for two. Rake by Kai, choke on the ropes again. Kai walks over her. Choke, knockdown gets two. Head slam into the turnbuckle on both sides of the ring gets two. Kai tries again and Holly slams Kai's head into the turnbuckle repeatedly. Weak clothesline gets two. Another rake by Kai and choke. Fisherman's suplex gets two for Kai. Irish whip to the corner, Kai boots a charging Amber then pins her with the feet on the ropes. Not bad, some uncommon mat wrestling in a women's match for once unlike the short crappy women's bouts we get with the WWF lately.

WINNER: Leilani Kai pin -> 8:55 mins *½

Photo of one member of the ICW tag champs, East Coast Bodily Harm, Chuck King.

This match was taped at an ACCW event, Atlantic Coast Championship Wrestling.

Mike Draven 6'0" 235lbs. Charlotte, NC vs. Flex Phenom 5'9" 235lbs. Antigo, WI w/ The Ice Princess -- Flex beats down Draven, slam and a one foot cover only gets one. Repeated chokeholds from Flex. Irish whip missed clothesline, hip toss blocked and Draven hip tosses Flex. Suplex by Draven gets two. These guys used to be tag team partners Ash notes. Flex bails out, gets back in. Arm wringer by Flex, pounds away at it, chokes on the ropes again. Constance Wilder is the referee, a rare lady ref who's got no love loss for the Ice Princess. Flex continues the assault, puts Draven on the top rope, superplex! But Flex wastes time posing and the one foot cover again gets only ONE. Flex pounds away in the corner, puts Draven on top, Draven shoves Flex, flying clothesline from Draven gets two. Belly to back suplex from Draven gets two as a foot goes on the rope. Draven kicks away, and pounds Flex down, elbow gets two. LOW BLOW by Flex. Flex parts the legs and drops his low. Flex with a side breaker. Flex with a "Juvy Driver". Flex on top again, blockbuster! He calls it the Phenom Flip and it ends the match there.

WINNER: Flex Phenom pin -> 7:15 mins. **

The other half of the ICW tag champs is shown, James Reno.

"Mean" Marc Ash 6'1" 220 lbs. Mytrle Beach, SC vs. The Bounty Hunter stats unknown -- Ash is unhappy this match was put in the show but Brower says he was looking for new talent. This is non-title, and if Hunter wins he gets added to the ICW roster. Hunter hip tosses Ash, Ash gets press slammed. Ash is reeling. Hunter shoves down Ash on the next lockup. Hunter, a large African American dude, was trained by Viper apparently. Hunter shoves down Ash again. Ash lures him over and kicks him down. Hunter with an Irish whip, Ash tries a sunset flip, can't get him over, but Hunter misses the sit-down. Ash chokes Hunter on the ropes. Irish whip and a spinkick from Ash. Ash takes the legs and drops a knee. Ash works on the leg, but Hunter makes the ropes. Ash headbutts the lower abdomen. Ash in the corner puts Hunter's leg on the rope and kicks away. Chop by Ash, Hunter hulks up boots Ash, elbowdrops Ash. Irish whip clothesline from Hunter gets two. Another low blow by Ash. Isn't a low blow a DQ anymore? Irish whip to the corner, tackle by Ash. Another one misses. Hunter Irish whip clothesline. Elbowdrop, arm wringer on the mat by Hunter. Charge by Hunter gets a boot to the face and Ash takes control again. Side suplex by Ash, cover but Hunter's legs are outside the ring. Irish whip to the corner, Hunter moves away from a charging Ash, spear by Hunter finishes him off. Some good energy there.

WINNER: The Bounty Hunter pin -> 8:15 mins. ***

And that's it for the ICW video as the credits roll. Moving on, here's a few bouts from Steel Rage Pro Wrestling at http://www.steelragepro.com

SRPW Heavyweight Title - Tables Match
(c)Vinnie Valentino 6'0" 238lbs. Little Italy, NY vs. The Rebel, stats unknown -- Joined in progress, this is a tables match. Valentino puts Rebel on the top rope, table set up, Rebel fights back, climbs up and does a sunset flip on the top rope and sends Valentino into the table but it doesn't break. Ouch. Powerbomb by Rebel and the table doesn't break again. Rebel goes up top, splash on Valentino but the table STILL doesn't break and Valentino is really hurting. Rebel picks him up pounds him in the corner. Rebel puts the table in the corner. Irish whip, Vinnie hits the table, elbow smash by Rebel, table doesn't break. Another Irish whip and Vinnie crashes through the table and breaks it in half. The referee has been down for a long while. Rebel tries getting the ref up, okay this must be a table match. Valentino slowly gets up and low blows him. Swinging neckbreaker by Valentino and he drags him over to the broken pieces. Valentino gets a water bottle and soaks the ref to wake him up and tells him he's through the table and the ref stops it there. Funny way for this match to end, and anyway, this is a display of improv when something that's supposed to break doesn't.

WINNER and STILL CHAMP: Vinnie Valentino KO -> 4:30 mins. shown. *

Tiger Kid stats unknown vs. Tarantula 5'9" 195lbs. Ponce, Puerto Rico -- This one also joined in progress. Tiger Kid wearing a mask puts Tarantula in the tree of woe and actually stands on his groin! He's in total agony. Pickup, chop, pulls the shirt off, Irish whip reverse, Tiger holds the ropes, Tiger tosses a charging Tarantula over the top, he lands on the apron and pulls Tiger outside. Chops him, climbs back but is pulled down, Tiger climbs back in but is pulled down, slugfest. Tiger attempts to get in and does. Irish whip reversal, Frankensteiner by Tarantula and gets three! Man, wish this wasn't clipped or I would had put more stars on it.

WINNER: Tarantula pin -> 2:15 min. shown. *

SRPW Hardcore Title Match
(c)Big Daddy Moore 5'9" 240lbs. Bristow, OK vs. Dexter Hardaway 5'9", 185lbs. Tulsa, Alberta Canada -- Another one joined in progress, this one taped in Porca City, OK on New Years or so. Dexter just kicks out of a pin cover. Moore Irish Whip to the corner and big avalanche. Dexter is a bloody mess. Another charge and Moore gets a boot then Dexter pins him with his feet on the ropes. THAT'S IT? Why'd they have over half the clip the after match celebration? Well Moore ain't done and this is apparently 24-7 rules as he slams him, pickup, ab stretch into a powerslam and Moore pins him to win the title back after a half minute elapsed. Moore leaves the arena as Dexter is slow to get up. I never liked the 24-7 rule cause Crash Holly made that rule up solely for himself to prove his toughness, but it somehow was made a permanent rule and ended up with an endless number of screw jobs of people stealing the belt when they didn't sign for the match.

WINNER: Big Daddy Moore pin -> ?? mins. No rating.

Boy that's it for them. Lastly, we jump to Assault Championship Wrestling at http://assaultwrestling.com/media-tv/highspeed/tv04272003.asf and it's a set of bouts on one video coming from a show named Fury Unleashed in March 2003.

Johnny Thundar leads off talking about his recent win of the ACW heavyweight title and his first defense against Billy Cage. A ladies tag match leads it off.

"La Familia" - Riptide & Mercedes Martinez vs. Ariel the ACW Princess & Trinity from NWA TNA -- Referee is Jack Corona. Mike E. Milano is the manager of "La Familia" and the sole commentator. Attack by the heels, double Irish whip double clotheslines, but the faces get a crucifix and a DDT. Rollup by the faces gets one, double dropkick. Skip ahead. Ariel is slamed by Riptide for two. Suplex gets two for Riptide. Face slam by Riptide. Rear chinlock by Riptide. Boy this commentator is biased as heck. Irish whip, monkeyflip by Ariel, two armdrags. Riptide with the Code Red. Riptide works on the arm, tags Mercedes. Suplex by Mercedes gets two. Snap mere by Mercedes with a kick to the back. Chop, Irish whip clothesline by Mercedes gets two. Ugh, this guy is annoying when he's a one man condensing rooting crew. Choke by Mercedes. Irish whip clothesline misses, flying headscissors by Ariel. Frankensteiner by Ariel gets two. Spinebuster by Mercedes gets two. Tag Riptide. Chops in the ropes, Irish whip missed clotheslines but then they both hit each other. Both tag out, Trinity in, Mercedes in. Hip tosses by Trinity, superkick gets two. Trinity has Mercedes, Irish whip, corkscrew DDT gets one as Riptide makes the save. Ariel in, Ariel is thrown out by Riptide. Mercedes tries to powerbomb Trinity but she hurraconrannas her for the pin and the commentator Mike Milano throws a tantrum and blames Riptide for the loss. Oh that guy's in the ring screaming his head off at her then fires her as Mercedes beats the crap out of Riptide. Sore loser. Just what we need another crime family.

WINNERS: Trinity & Princess Ariel pin -> 7:20 mins. ***

Mercedes cuts a promo on Riptide on their upcoming match. Sore loser. Gee does that idiot fire his guys when they suffer their first loss despite how many wins they get? Riptide responds with her own promo against Mercedes as she practices on a punching bag. Now we cut to a scene with the ACW commish Jonny Promo confronting Milano. Promo has something special to show him for him running around running his mouth and to watch the screen. Milano runs back to the commentator's booth as we see the photo of "Knight's Coven" projected. And this will be my main event for this edition of the Rap Sheet.

Six-Man Hardcore Match
Knight's Coven - Jason Knight, Ron Zombie, & Avil Graves vs. La Familia - Dylan Kage, Del Tsunami, & The Prowler -- A six man hardcore match. Big brawl as a table is in a corner. Milano whines about the match. Jason Knight gets a trashcan to the head from Tsunami. I can't tell who's who in this. Dylan and Zombie fight outside. Zombie is thrown from some high location. Knight is bleeding and nails someone with the can. They are skipping ahead as this one's been edited for time. Avil Graves with a lid on Tsunami. Zombie in the ring with a container of tacks and spills in the ring. Kage blocks a face slam and sends Knight into the tacks and he has several in the head. Graves makes the save, suplex by Dylan. Graves on the second rope on a prone Tsunami and drops on him. Stop sign beats someone with a stop sign. A barbed wire table in the ring and someone is rammed into it. Knight is rubbed into the tacks again. Prowler hip tosses Zombie. Dylan whips Knight into the ref but Knight clotheslines him down. Geez, what a messy match. A large man named Bull Dredd jumps in the ring and hits a inverted stone cold stunner (called the Dreddinator where you're face to face with the victim instead of the victim behind, place the chin on your shoulder and drop down with him) and another ref runs in with a fast three. After match there's still a brawl going on, the Prowler powerbombs someone through a table on the floor covered in barbed wires. Ugh, Milano is paying off a ref for his services.

WINNERS: La Familia pin -> 5:30 mins. shown. *½

The defeated men stand in the ring, Knight does something to the music of Jaws and puts his head in the tacks on his own. Ewwwww...that's gross. The three men then stand tall even though they lost. Knight has a mike. Knights says he's got a steel cage match against Dylan Kage. Cut to Knight later, cuts a promo about an upcoming show. And that concludes the ACW TV show.

Well found a couple of three star matches in this batch, and some decent women's bouts. I just don't know why the WWF just forgot how to do women's wrestling since Rockin' Robin concluded the last great era of women's wrestling over there. The hardcore stuff varied, the Steel Rage stuff should have been longer than it was given, but the ICW stuff packed it together tightly in a neat little package without any sizable breaks in the action. So there you go, that's it for this time out, more videos to review as I can find them.
