I think I need to state who the intended auidence of the rap sheet is
before going further. This rap sheet is written for smart fans
and insiders who read books like "Wrestling's One Ring Circus" and "The
Death of WCW", or read websites like 1wrestling.com, 411mania.com,
pwinsider.com or insidepulse.com. If you shun that sort of stuff,
you probably won't like the writing style I use. And as a
wrestling fan, I like my workrate a lot more than the BS, cause the
nuts and bolts of the show IS the wrestling after all.
I chose to run up to Peoria to see this show and be excused from a gym
meeting. MC Trip C was encouraging me to attend, so since I was
attending a show the next day I best get at least one good show out of
the weekend. The event was held at the Peoria Riverplex, and
getting there was a bit easier than getting to the Peoria Athlete
Club. I-74 through Peoria is still a mess, not that much progress
has been made on the rebuilding of the road. Getting off the
highway was a lot easier than getting back on it, as a number of ramps
were closed off. Attendance for the event counted up to about
60-70 people, kinda low. "Luck McGraw" some Irish band that plays
drunk bar songs was being piped over the PA system. The show
started at 8:25pm. Shane Griffin sat by me, seemingly to keep me
from causing any trouble heh heh, he says he had been suspended.
Dunno why. Three sides of the ring have mats, one side does not,
and that is where the wrestlers make their entrance.
Live from the Peoria Riverplex, your commentary team is Scooter &
Mr. NGW. They warn the crowd to get the heck outta of the way if
the wrestlers start brawling in the crowd.
NGW Triple Threat Championship
(c)Axis 6'0" 220lbs. Parts Unknown vs. Elmer w/ Dennis Devine vs. CJ
Esparza 5'6" 135lbs. Rock Island, IL w/ Jacob Walker - The girls in
front of me scream they love Axis. Axis is in the black leather
pants, about the size of a cruiser, Elmer's the heavyweight with red
mask and overalls, CJ is all of 135 pounds. Walker says he's
gonna help keep the title in the Forsaken camp, then brings in the
other two opponents, one of them fellow member CJ, then WHACKS Axis
with the cane! CJ pounds away on Axis, shoves Elmer away but he
shoves CJ in the corner and pounds him in the corner. CJ forearms
Elmer, whip to the corner, tries something but Axis yanks him off, hits
a BIG clothesline that flips him around. CJ and Axis tumble to
the floor, Elmer follows, CJ into the rail, then the apron, CJ whips
Axis into the post. Elmer tosses CJ in, CJ hits a LOW BLOW!
Spinning heel kick on Elmer gets two! Axis back in, CJ whips
Elmer, but eats an elbow. Elmer bulldogs CJ and gets one.
Axis clotheslines Elmer, dumps him out. CJ with a kick to the gut
on Axis, Axis with a spinebuster. Devine checks on Elmer.
CJ on Axis shoulders, does a flipover powerbomb but gets ONE.
Elmer is slow to get up, Axis charges CJ and knees him to the
head. Elmer back in, nails CJ in the head and stomps on his
feet. Elmer & Axis clothesline CJ, double whip, CJ avoid the
back body drop, nails Axis, then PUNTS Elmer's head! CJ lines up
Axis, runs up his body then grabs his knee. Walker jumps in the
ring as it's a trap, BELT SHOT by Walker! Walker then has the
gall to walk up and SPIT on the girls in front of me. Real class
act jerkoff. CJ hits a SHOOTING STAR PRESS on Axis and pins
him! Match was a decent opener, dunno why Walker kicked Axis
outta the Forsaken group but then again I haven't been able to read
recaps from previous shows lately as they stopped posting them a month
ago and now someone had the webpage deleted off.
WINNER and NEW CHAMP: CJ Esparza pin -> 5:50 mins. **½
NGW Tag Team Championship - Tornado Rules
(c)Perfect 10 - Big Pappa & "Little Pappa" Kyle Rich vs. The
Forsaken - Ryan Phoenix & Ric Brutal w/ Jacob Walker - When'd Ryan
Phoenix join the Forsaken? And Big Pappa is no where to be seen,
as Rich came out wearing both belts. Uh oh, that ain't
good. The Forsaken attacks, Rich dumps Ryan to the floor,
clothesline on Brutal, Ryan trips Rich for Brutal to dropkick to the
face on the mat. Senton, legdrop combo on Rich gets two.
Ryan whip to the corner, Rich tosses him to the apron, Brutal hits a
side knee for two. Ric armbar, kick, Ryan middle rope, SITS on
his neck for two! Ouch! Ryan whip to the corner, sets up a
Hardy Boys move but Rich hops off Phoenix's back and crossbodies Brutal
for two! Ryan kick, misses the fameasser, legsweep by Brutal
though. Kyle gets dumped to the floor, Ryan yells everyone to
move, oh no they're gonna go into the crowd! Ryan with a back
body drop into the seats! Almost took out a fan! I hate
that, Brutal on the top rope, SENTON OVER THE RAILING INTO THE
SEATS! That IDIOT! Phoenix sets up a chair, double
clothesline off the chair by Rich! Phoenix and Kyle back in the
ring, Kyle misses the fameasser again, but gets a shoulderblock.
Rich knocks Brutal off, Phoenix with a death valley driver into a
backbreaker! He goes up, 450 splash MISSED! Rich goes up,
frog splash hits for two and its broken up. Brutal puts Rich on
top, Big Pappa comes out limping with an eyepatch. Shane Griffin
let me know that Ryan Phoenix stuck a lit ciggarette into his eye last
week. Oh that's stupid. Double kicks in the ring, Rich got
a powerbomb for two. Phoenix and Pappa fight, Brutal hits a
behind the back piledriver on Kyle! BLACK HOLE SLAM by Pappa on
Phoenix gets TWO?? No way! BIG forearm shot on Pappa by
Phoenix but he falls on Brutal for the pin! Oops. Talk
about an innovative finish. Match turned out quite decent.
WINNERS and STILL CHAMPS: Perfect Ten pin -> 6:40 mins. ***
Ryan Phoenix is angry, he slugs away at Big Pappa's eye. Sore loser.
NGW People's Choice Championship - Asian Death Match
(c)Ray the Wrestler vs. "Asian Sensation" Brett Gakiya 5'6" 140lbs.
Okinawa, Japan - This particular title was created quite recently, the
purpose of it was supposed to be that the fans pick the challenger or
match stipulations for the title holder. Only problem with that
is, the webmaster got lazy in setting up the polls, then the whole
website got deleted. Oops. Anyway, here's the setup for
this match. About a month prior to this, these two faced off in
the ring. Toward the end of the match, they were both on the top
rope, Brett had a hold of Ray, and did a moonsault side slam that he
calls the Dragonfly. Well he executed the move, but kicked the
tubes out of a light fixture above the ring and shattered them to the

Be sure to click the FREE button. Anyway, the stips of an Asian
Death Match: Hardcore rules are in effect, you must score a pin
or submission then get your opponent outside the ring for a ten count
to win. Mr. NGW warns people again they better move if a wrestler
tells you to move. I better not have a wrestler in my lap.
Ray comes out wearing a hockey helmet, bubble wrap, and hockey
gloves. Belt looks like an old style IC belt painted
silver. Actually all their belts are customized WWF replica
titles. Ray is running his mouth about how much his bubble wrap
cost, yeah how many applinance boxes did he raid for that stuff?
Brett rolls him up for three right off the bat. Ray goes out and
pulls some of the stuff off him, Brett on the top rope, MOONSAULT TO
THE FLOOR! Yikes! They go over the rail and into the
crowd...Ray is thrown into the railing out back, Ray puts him back in
the ring area and puts on the Million Dollar Dream, and does a
backbreaker with it! Back in the ring, whip reverse shoulderblock
Ray, Brett trips him, does a hurraconranna on the mat. Brett with
the armdrags and Ray takes off. Brett follows, blocks a poke to
the eye and pokes Ray instead, Brett with a hurraconranna on the
floor! He sets up a chair, fetches the hockey helmet, has a girl
in the front row try to secure it but Ray nails him. He tries to
ram him into the chair, but the helmet absorbs the blow, Brett shoves
him into the chair, haha. Brett tosses him in, to the top rope,
HELMET BUTT gets two! He ditches the helmet and chops away, but
Ray hits a spinebuster. Ray bails out of the ring again, Brett
chases but gets chaired. Ray with a pickup, side powerbomb gets
two. Ray gets the chair, Brett is whipped to the corner, Brett
with a moonsault into a reverse DDT! Nice! Brett dropkicks
the chair into Ray's face, Brett with a double springboard 450 splash
gets the pin! Wow. Ray beats the count at seven.
Brett drop kicks him down, off the ropes Ray BLASTS HIM WITH A
LIGHTTUBE!!! WTF??? Dang I didn't see that coming, AT
ALL! And right in front of me too, so I move back. Brett is
all cut up on the back, glass is EVERYWHERE. Ray pulls out some
more and sets him up in the corner. Hey this ain't CZW!!!
Brett reverses the whip into the tubes but Ray hits the brakes!
Eye poke, Ray hip toss is blocked, Ray BACK BODY DROP INTO THE
TUBES!!! HE'S INSANE!!! THIS IS NOT COMBAT ZONE
WRESTLING! SICK! Irish whip by somebody, Brett is all cut
up, Ray with a slam, he goes up, Brett kips up, runs up the ropes and
hits the DRAGONFLY for the pin! Dang that was indeed the first
time I saw that move, Ray is pushed out, ref counts, Brett grabs a
piece of tube and whacks Ray with it on the floor, ref gets to ten and
it's ALL OVER! Crowd goes wild! Match was spectactular, it
was the first time I've seen light tubes used in a match live.
WINNER and NEW CHAMP: "Asian Sensation" Brett Gakiya pin, KO -> 12:15 mins. ****¼
Man can't believe this, that was sick. Ray actually fetches a
broom to start sweeping. They obviously had to go to intermission
as they had a big cleanup job to do with all the broken glass
around. This took about 20 minutes or so to sweep the ring and
all the floor mats. They should've had an industral vacuum to get
all the little pieces off that mat. I saw Ray in front of the
concession stand and yelled at him that he's nuts! Ray the
Wrestler commented on the match in his personal blog, it was supposed
to go a while longer with a different finish but the seven inch gash on
Brett's head necessiated getting the match over with sooner.
Brett had to be rushed to the hospital to get those cuts stapled shut,
it was nasty.
NGW Heavyweight Championship
(c) Jester vs. Chris Hazard - Mr. NGW didn't even call it a heavyweight
title. Jester comes up with a DDT right off the bat for
one. Jester with a spinning neckbreaker, front headlock, then a
double underhook powerbomb! Jester with the three amigo suplexes
gets two! Jester rams him in the corner and chokes away. He
hits another DDT, snap mares Hazard and vices that neck. This
crowd is for some reason very quiet, and I seem to be the only one
making noise. Jester with the whip and the clothesline, then
tosses him out. And it's action into the crowd AGAIN!
Hazard finally fires back, they're heading for the bleaches but Jester
sends him rolling down them! Jester lines up Hazard but gets
thrown into the bleachers. Jester hits a clothesline on the
floor, where's the ref count? They make their way back to the
ring, slam, legdrop by Jester gets two. Hazard comes back with a
springboard shoulderblock, hits a knee, fireman's carry...into a GUT
WRENCHER! Hope he didn't eat before the match. Hazard with
a suplex, to the second rope and hits an axe to the mat for two.
Hazard slam, elbow gets two. Jester comes back with a 3/4 nelson
slam and blasts him in the neck. Hazard with the EDGUCUTION gets
two, tilt a whirl slam gets two. Hazard goes up, Jester with a
LOW BLOW! They fight on the top rope, Hazard somehow gets a
fireman's carry on the top rope and tosses Jester face first! Man
this crowd is still quite dead, and I can't wake them up. Hazard
SPEAR! Jester though with a crossarm neckbreaker, then a
LIONSAULT gets two! Dang Jester flies! Jester goes out,
fetches a table, NOW the crowd wakes up. Table is put in the
corner, Jester rams Hazard into the table, sets up for a kick and
MISSES, Hazard SPEARS Jester through the table! Hazard covers,
one...two...foot on the rope, falls off, THREE!
WINNER and NEW CHAMP: Chris Hazard pin -> 12:30 mins.
Oh but wait a minute! Some guy in a Kerry Wood uniform comes out
screaming NO NO NO! Shane tells me it's Brian Simpson.
Hazard clobbers Simpson, Jester sneaks up and hits a SUPERKICK!
Bell rings, cover gets TWO! Oh man, if that would had been how it
ended I would had been pissed. Jester pounds away in frustration,
gut wrench suplex gets two. Well Hazard ain't giving up, Jester
hits a flying headscissors! Ram to the corner, no one has pulled
that broken table out, Jester goes for the pedigree, but gets body
dropped over. Jester hits a kick, DDT! Jester goes for the
unprettier, it's blocked, Hazard with an F5!!! It's ALL OVER!!!
WINNER and NEW CHAMP: Chris Hazard pin -> 15:45 mins. ***½
I was one of the few to stand up and clap for Hazard's victory, MC Trip
C even admits all the energy was sucked out of them during
intermission. Match was great, even if the crowd didn't
appreciate it that much.
18-Man Royal Rumble
#1 is Little Pappa Kyle Rich, #2 is Ric Brutal. Winner of the rumble gets a heavyweight title shot. Well two men
couldn't make the rumble, those being Ray the Wrestler and Brett
Gakiya, thus the 20 man is reduced to 18. Interviews are 90
seconds, time starts when the wrestler hits the ring, and the
scoreboard is in operation. This time around I am recording their
entries and exits. Brutal kicks Kyle, Kyle with a
spinebuster! Brutal with the whip karate kick to Rich's
face! They try to eliminate each other, Rich clotheslines Brutal
so hard he FLIPS HIM! Rich puts on a half camel clutch, he calls
it a dragon clutch. Time ticks down...
#3 is Kody Kash at 1:45. They double team Brutal with lots of
kicks, Kash whip clotheslines Brutal. Kyle turns on Kody, they
trade them chops. Kyle suplexes Kody, Brutal DDT's Rich!
Running legdrop, spinning legdrop, drop kick on Kody!
#4 is Elmer at 3:30. Brutal drop kicks Elmer then dumps him
out! Oh boy that lasted about 10-15 seconds. Brutal whips
Kash, running kick to the head! Kody tries to dump Brutal, girls
are screaming for Brutal to stay in.
#5 is Stumpy at 5:10, a real chubby guy. Kyle chops Stumpy,
Stumpy picks up and dumps Kody Kash out at 5:45. Brutal has been
KO'ed, Rich goes after Stumpy and chops away. Brutal goes after
Rich, jumping kick to the chin!
#6 is Ryan Phoenix at 6:45. Ryan goes after Rich, then Stumpy,
kicks away in the corner. Ryan chokes Rich, Brutal assists a
double suplex on Stumpy! Ryan off the second rope hits a drop
kick on Rich! Brutal puts Kyle on top and kicks him in the
face! Phoenix chokes Stumpy, Brutal hip tosses Rich.
Phoenix STYLES CLASH on Kyle Rich! They try to dump him...
#7 is Dennis Devine at 8:20. Devine goes after Phoenix, choke on
the ropes. Phoenix turnaround clothesline on Devine, knees his
own partner. Ryan goes after Stumpy, double noggin knocker on two
guys. Brutal with an axe kick on someone. Phoenix kicks
Devine in the face, Kyle Rich grabs Phoenix and hits a hangman's
spinning neckbreaker! Ryan has Brutal in a rear headlock.
#8 is Big Pappa at 10:05. Oh we have a rematch from earlier
now! Phoenix bails out, Pappa pounds on Brutal, Devine goes after
Stumpy, Phoenix gets in, Pappa pounds away on him and kicks him under
the bottom rope. Tag champs hug, but Phoenix hits repeated LOW
BLOWS on Pappa! Kyle and Phoenix trade LOW BLOWS! Running
kick to the face by Brutal.
#9 is CJ Esparrez at 11:45. Forsaken kick away on Pappa, CJ
forearm shot on Pappa. Kyle trips CJ, Stumpy sits on
Devine. Phoenix double stomp on Pappa's head from the 2nd
rope. Drop kick by CJ & Phoenix on Pappa. Brutal slams
Rich. All three Forsaken members dump Big Pappa out, he's gone at
12:45! Devine yanks Stumpy to the mat. Legsweep kick combo
by the Forsaken on Rich.
#10 is Axis at 13:20. Girls go wild screaming "We love you
Axis!" Axis DUMPS CJ to the floor! Bye bye at 13:30.
Axis dumps Brutal out at 13:40! Phoenix with a LOW BLOW on Axis,
Devine with a cartwheel splash in the corner on Stump. Phoenix
with a PILEDRIVER on Axis! Kyle drop kicks Phoenix in
retaliation. Kyle ties Phoenix up in the ropes, he goes up on the
other end of the ring, coast to coast SLAP in the face!
#11 is Mike Fine at 15:05. He sneaks in the ring from a different
entrance and dumps Stumpy out at 15:10, Devine out at 15:15.
Someone chokes Axis, Phoenix pounds on Rich, puts him in the tree of
woe, Phoenix coast to coast drop kick! Fine stomps Phoenix.
#12 is Johnny Justice at 17:10. He passes coins out instead of
enter the ring. Neckbreaker on Rich, Axis & Fine fight,
Phoenix neckbreaker on Kyle Rich! Axis suplexes Fine.
Phoenix stomps on Fine, running enuzigiri on Axis! Diamond cutter
by Justice on someone!
#13 is Denver Todd Stickrod at 19:00. Fine is outside the ring,
Justice lines up Axis but hits the post. Fine is pulled back in
the ring by Phoenix. Rock bottom or chokeslam by Axis on
someone! Justice with a diamond cutter on Fine! Phoenix KO
punch on Axis. Justice tries to dump Rich.
#14 is MC Trip C at 20:30. MC tries to dump Phoenix but he hangs
on. MC works on Phoenix with chops. Side neckbreaker by
Rich on Justice! DTS LOW BLOWS Fine! DTS is poked by
someone, shoulderblock Fine on Axis.
#15 is Sinnister at 22:00! Phoenix dumps DTS and Johnny Justice
out at 22:15! Justice wants to beat on Phoenix some more.
Phoenix charges Axis in the corner, Axis back body drops Phoenix
out! 22:45, and on the unpadded side of the ring too, as Phoenix
hurt his leg and had to be helped away. Rich knees Fine thru the
ropes and they go to fight on the floor. Sinnister pounds on
Axis, Rich pounds on Fine.
#16 is Apocolypse at 24:00. Mike Fine flees the ring, scared of
him. Apoc goes after Sinnister, Fine goes after Axis, Rich and MC
Trip C go at it. Rich running elbow on MC, Fine chokes Axis,
Sinnister chokes Apoc. MC gut wrench suplex on Rich. Fine
slingshots Axis into the bottom turnbuckle. MC tries to dump
Sinnister, Fine tries to dump Axis.
#17 is someone wearing a black dragon mask at 25:50. Well we'll
call him Black Dragon but I've also heard Onimo Dragon as a name.
Sinnister holds him to be chopped by Rich. Black Dragon knees
Sinnister, Rich with a stinger splash on MC Trip C. Sinnister
works on Dragon, Fine chops MC. Fine works on Apoc's leg.
Sinnister stands on Dragon's neck. MC drops an elbow on
Dragon. Axis and Fine work on Apoc. Rich has the Million
Dollar Dream on MC.
#18 is Jester at 27:15, and that's the last one in. Fine exits
under the ropes again. Sinnister works on Jester, Dragon comes
over, Apoc tries to dump Rich. Fine chokes Axis, Apoc tries to
dump Rich again to the apron. MC has Dragon, Sinnister superkicks
MC Trip C to the floor, out at 28:25! Kyle Rich clotheslines
Dragon out! Bye bye masked man at 28:30. Apoc has Fine on
the apron, they fight on the apron, neck snap drop kick on Apoc knocks
him outta of the rumble at 29 mins. Fine screams at Grandpa Apoc
to get back to the home. Jester goes after Fine, Sinnister chokes
Axis, Kyle rests in a corner. Jester tries to get rid of Fine,
someone hits an enzuigiri on Rich. Fine chokes Jester, Sinnister
whips Kyle, axe kick on Sinnister! Sinnister gets rid of Kyle
Rich at 31:00. Jester, Axis, Fine and Sinnister are your final
four. Sinnister with a kick, to the second rope, Axis attacks
him. Axis almost gets Sinnister out, off the rope, knocks
Sinnister off and he's out at 32 mins. Jester DDT's Fine.
Axis spits on Sinnister. Kyle is slow to get up, Sinnister an
already eliminated wrestler yanks Axis out illegally at 32:20.
And the referees allow it, it shouldn't had been. Sinnister pulls
Jester through the rope and shoves the ref down. Fine's the last
one in the ring at the moment, Apoc sneaks in the ring, attacks
Fine. Apoc rams Fine into the post and CHOKESLAMS HIM! Kyle
Rich stumbles into the rail, but gets a parting shot on Sinnister while
holding his side. Jester gets back in the ring, KO's Fine.
He pounds Fine in the head, he lines him up against the ropes, charges,
but Fine yanks the rope down and Jester SAILS over the top! It's
over! Mike Fine stumbles around screaming "I won I won".
Decent rumble as a whole, nothing to complain about.
WINNER: Michael Fine -> 35 mins. ****
Now for a few stats. Kyle Rich stayed in the longest at 31
minutes, Mike Fine second longest at 19:55 minutes, Axis at 19
minutes. Elmer stayed in the shortest at 10-15 seconds, CJ
Esparez at 1:45, Black Dragon & Big Pappa at 2:40. Most
eliminations: Mike Fine & Axis with 4, Ryan Phoenix &
Sinnister with 3, Rich, Stumpy & Brutal had one.
The Verdict: Although the show was a bit short clocking at under
two hours once the intermission is subtracted, the event overall was
quite excellent as there wasn't a bad match on the card. I think
for a major show though it should go longer than the weekly ones.
Kinda wish more people were around to see this especially in a city the
size of Peoria, they got some work to do for getting attendance up for
the "major" shows of the month.
