The Rap Sheet - from the Crimefighter
Great American Wrestling's Blue Collar Brawl
9/4/2K4 Decatur, IL

Another day, another new fed opens...

The rap sheet is archived at the Rap Sheet Dossier at http://rap-sheet.tripod.com and can be read in various locations on the internet that I send it to, which includes news:rec.sport.pro-wrestling.info a newsgroup that wrestling companies could use to promote their shows but don't. The views expressed by Crimefighter are solely his own, and do not necessarily reflect the views of friends, associates, co-workers, organizations, whichever website you're reading this report on, or any of the six billion people on planet Earth.

Great American Wrestling was started by a tag team that used to be associated with New Midwest Wrestling known as Red and Coop.  They had told me of their idea to start an afflilate in Decatur.  Well, they for some reason decided to split and after so many months did start up the fed.  Red gave me a comp ticket to come watch the event, so for the fourth successive weekend I attend a wrestling show.  This time around I took along one of the more dastardly heels with me that happened to be Red & Coop's former manager and it was quite interesting chatter on the way over.  The heat in the facility was just as bad as the event I went to a week ago, and I have to wonder where's the AC in these buildings?  Attendance looked to be about 100.  It was too dark to take any photos, bleh.

The debut show for GAW is LIVE from the Decatur Masonic Temple in Decatur.  Your ring announcer is Slick Rick Castle.  Oh no, not live PA commentary!  Your commentary team is Castle and the man known as Nemesis (not in character).  They bring out all the wrestlers to draw for the royal rumble, including one girl wrestler.  Castle shows off the tag belts of which the first round of the tourney begins tonight.

Nite Angel 123lbs. Nighttown, MI vs. Danielle Cash 114lbs. Terra Haute, IN w/ Colton Cash - Nite Angel is a blonde-haired woman wearing a black outfit, Danielle has dark brown hair and is wearing a lime green outfit.  Colton is apparently her uncle, and her dad was sitting by me.  Elektra Fine was supposed to be wrestling here instead of Angel.  Danielle gets a headlock takedown, hammerlock Nite, pickup, armdrag Danielle gets two.  Tornado DDT, standing moonsault by Danielle gets two.  Angel gets a monkey flip, sunset flip gets two.  Snap mare Angel, splash off the second rope gets two.  DDT Angel, elbow gets two.  Danielle hits a sloppy second rope bulldog for two.  Then for no reason whatsoever, two men come out and interrupt the match.  Oh criminey!  Let the girls do a full match!!!  Match was quite sloppy all the way through though, they are rookies.  Castle is annoying as heck as commentator.

NO WINNER:  NO CONTEST -> 3:30 mins. ½*

The two men who interrupt the match are the "Lady Killer" Donovon Cain and the former Drive Thru Coop now known as JC Michaels.  They asks how its going princess.  They complain about not having any opponents in the first round cause no one's man enough, the crowd get on them for interrupting the match.  They tell the referee to just give them a bye to the second round.  Gee, you REALLY had to interrupt the girls match JUST to say that?  Danielle grabs the mike and says they're women enough and challenge them to a match right now.  The men say this isn't the first time they've taken on two women.  Oh funny.

Men vs. Women Tag Match
Nite Angel 123lbs. Nighttown, MI & Danielle Cash 5'3" 114lbs. Terra Haute, IN w/ Colton Cash vs. JC Michaels 6'1" 305lbs. Decatur, IL & Donavon Cain ???lbs. Parts Unknown - I'm wondering how the girls are gonna work together now and I don't like their chances here.  Angel is gonna start against Coop, and it's bantamweight versus super heavyweight, oh dear.  Shove by Coop, slam and a butt slap by Coop.  Whip clothesline JC.  Tag Danielle, tag Cain.  Cain asks for a date and Cash slaps him hard.  Pair of suplexes Danielle get two.  Rollup Cain gets two.  Takedown headlock, atomic drop by Danielle.  Tag JC, tag Angel.  Danielle appears to be afraid of JC.  JC whip corner, SPLASH, oh that's what I was afraid would happen, elbowdrop but Angel kicks out at two!  Powerslam JC gets two.  Slam JC, Angel tries to tag but Cash refuses it, JC tags Cain in.  Side suplex, one foot cover gets two.  Slam Cain, legdrop gets two.  Second one gets two.  Danielle NOW tags in, kick DDT, she stomps away, second rope moonsault gets two.  Cain gets dumped out, tag Angel.  JC jumps in, whip clothesline on Angel, Colton roughs up Cain on the floor, Danielle back in, Cain back in, Angel gets on all fours behind Cain, Danielle crossbodies Cain, girls pile on him for the pin!

WINNERS:  Danielle Cash & Nite Angel pin -> 7:30 mins. **

Bizarre tag match.  Well the girls aren't happy with each other, Angel gets thrown over the top rope, then Danielle suplexes Angel on the floor!  They're gonna have to kiss and make up cause they're in the tournament now and going to the next round!

Lucky Dane 215lbs. Belfast, OH w/ Lizzy O'Shea vs. Cannonball Drake 240lbs. "The Circus" - Well the goofy gimmicks they come up with these days, the masked guy shoots himself out of a cannon or used to.  Drake tries getting in the face of Dane's gal so he jumps him.  Forearm Drake, lockup, wristlocks traded, rollup Dane gets two.  Poke by Drake, whip sloppy clothesline, Drake slugs away, whip clothesline Drake.  Drake chops away, choke with the boot.  Whip corner, Drake eats a boot, Dane hits a clothesline then starts going for the mask.  Ref doesn't want him to strip the mask off, armbar Dane, legdrop on the arm and works it over.  Drake reverses, whip splash, chops.  Dane flips him around and chops away, yank of the chest hair.  Dane whip clothesline, armbar DDT.  And look at this, two men rush the ring to attack Dane for the SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT FINISH AT 6:30 minutes!

WINNER:  Lucky Dane DQ -> 6:30 mins. ½*

The Irish Revolution, Mickey & Shamous McNelson beat on Dane, but Chip Conway and Jaxson Pride run out to make the save.  What was the point of that?  The IR hate the fellow countrymen or something cause they aren't aligned with them?  Sloppy match.

T-Bone 6'3" 250lbs. Philadelphia, PA & Toxik 5'9" 230lbs. New York City vs. "The Chosen Few" - Crossroad Kid 5'8" 165lbs. Crossroads of America & TNT Jack Maverick 6'2" 165lbs. WINNERS:  The Chosen Few pin -> 15:25 mins. ****

That commentary team is annoying me more and more as the night goes on.  Tag match was great though.

The Irish Revolution 520lbs. Belfast, Ireland - "Golden Boy" Mickey McNelson & Shamous McNelson w/ Pat McGroin vs. Machine Gunn Tommy & Kandi Deluxe w/ woman - Mickey has bleached his hair and is wearing feather boas.  Kandi Deluxe has a valet who's handing candy out to kids.  Kandi and Mick start, rollup Kandi gets one.  Lockup armbar, Kandi, rollup gets two, crucifix rollup gets two.  Kandi whip clothesline Mick, X-Factor Mick, he slugs away.  Whip shoulderblock Kandi, whip grazing boot gets two.  Poke by Mick, tag Shamous, beatdown in the corner, whip clothesline Shamous.  Another beatdown in the corner, splash attempt misses.  Tag Tommy, who's only 16 years old, he slugs away, Mick slugs him down.  Whip reverse clothesline Shamous, kick to the knee by Shamous, knee slam, choke, slugaway.  Tag Mick, double whip double hip toss, double elbows get two.  Whip clothesline, splash Mick.  Tommy hits a suplex, tag Kandi, ram to the corner, whip flying clothesline gets one.  Whip low hip tosses, drop kick Kandi.  LOW BLOW Mick, slam, he climbs up.  Kandi slams him off the top for two.  Kandi takes a swipe at McGroin, the IRs nail him, Mick chops away, McGroin gets a chair.  Kneedrop by Mick, the valet hops up, Tommy goes after Shamous, Kandi stunner is blocked, standing bulldog by Mick and pins Deluxe.  Tommy was covering Shamous as well but they weren't the legal men.

WINNERS:  The Irish Revolution pin -> 9:50mins. ***

The owner of GAW comes out and thanks the people for coming, errr...most of them.  He says something to annoy the crowd before leaving.  We go to intermission.

Tank 230lbs. Florida vs. Jaxson Pride 215lbs. Freedom, PA - Jaxson Pride is the former Drive Thru Red.  I should say also that his tag partner Coop/JC Michaels decided to just turn on him three weeks ago at a CCW show.  Why, I don't know.  There are too many wrestlers calling themselves Tank and he's gonna have to come up with a first name or something.  Lockup, headlock Red, shoveoff, shoulderblock, elbow.  Jaxson with a sloppy hip toss (or maybe into a neckbreaker?).  Poke by Tank, choke, whip clothesline.  Tank DDT gets two.  Tank goes up, splash misses.  Elbow Jaxson, whip clothesline gets one.  Tank whip double clotheslines.  Tank falls outside, Jaxson gets a slam for two.  Elbow Pride gets a slow two count.  Whip spinebuster Tank, he rolls out and gets a drink, back in Tank kicks away, drop kick in the corner, Tank with the FAMEASSER!  Tank goes up to the second rope, but Jaxson flatliners him off for three!

WINNER:  Jaxson Pride pin -> 6 mins. **

He's not done, Jaxson attacks him in the aisle, ram to the apron and throws him through the curtain.  They introduce the teams for the next match, but one of the men who stunk up the IL State Fair show for the IWF a couple weeks ago, Gino Latino comes out.  Oh gosh no.  The GAW owner comes out to protest the “birthday party” for the Animals, they shove a cupcake in his face.

Handicap Tag Match
Gino Latino, The Animals - George "The Animal" Jr. & George III vs. Hot Commidity - “Primetime” Adam Starr & “Big Investment" Richard E. Biggs III - I had a hard time figuring out who was who cause they did not intro anyone individually.  Animals are running around in the crowd, the other team came out wearing ties.  And I have NO idea if these Animals are related in any way to George “The Animal” Steele.  Biggs and Junior start.  Bite by Junior, the Animals and Latino clown around a lot.  Gets to the point where I start arguing with them and a pair of females yell back at me.  Well when an audience member gets more heat than the match itself, that’s a bad sign.  The Kraft Cheese Factory is IN THE RING!   Lockup shove Biggs.  Animals goof around some more, lockup hard chop by Junior, whip criss cross, clothesline Junior.  Tag Starr, tag George 3rd.  Lockup whip fireman’s carry, and slaps him on the rear before a sloppy death valley driver.  Tag Gino, elbow, kneedrop, headlock, Junior tags Biggs and Hot Commidity almost slug each other.  Animals tease them more, lockup, Starr slugs away, whip reverse shoulderblock, then walks on him.  The Animals also take a walk on him.  Gino whip clothesline, tag Junior, he punches him down.  Suplex Junior, boot wipe, poke, headlock, KO punch gets two.  Turnbuckle ram, charging shoulderblock Junior, splash, wedgie.  Tag George 3rd, snap mare, iron claw, Biggs kicks him off.  The commentary team begins to show impatience and calls out the time elasped, now at 14 minutes.  Tag Gino, whip double elbow.  Headbutt Gino, suplex, whip clothesline, more clowning around.  Ram to the corner, tag Junior, headbutt Biggs has no effect.  Headbutt Junior, double whip back body drop Animals, Starr gets knocked off, legdrop George 3rd gets the pin.

WINNERS:  Gino Latino & The Animals pin -> 17 mins. DUD

If this match went any longer they had a couple men in the back ready to charge the ring and take the Animals out!  I wished they did.  Hardly a wrestling match, the cheese factory was in full production and I’ve stated previously that I don’t care at all for comedy-gimmick matches.  Way, way too long.  The GAW owner jumps up and declares the match is null and void for the tournament cause it was supposed to be two-on-two.  Gee, why didn’t you do something before the match started then?  He says they’ll have to wrestle again at an upcoming show on Sept. 19th in a town called Maroa, IL which apparently will be a free outdoor show.  The Animals go dancing and bring somebody's kid in the ring.

Now for a quick look at the tourney brackets:

Trainyard - Ray Lincoln is the current CCW Heavyweight Champ and looked like a mini-John Cena.  He fetches the mike, he says he does this in every city he goes to, he tells everyone to sit back and enjoy the show and let him know how they feel about his performance in the ring.  Boxcar is wearing an orange hood.  Ray throws Boxcar three pennies to get out of the ring.  AJ and Ray lockup, headlock, hammerlock, leg trip, shoveoff, clothesline by Lincoln.  Boxcar in, Ray slugs away on Boxcar, shoulderblock, whip reverse elbow Lincoln, Boxcar catches Ray off the second rope into a spinebuster for two!  AJ back in, throws Lincoln out.  Powers slugs away on Boxcar, chops away, whip into Lincoln on the way back in!  Sidewalk slam Boxcar gets two.  AJ snap suplex, Lincoln elbow, AJ throws Lincoln out, AJ goes up, headbutt on Boxcar!  Lincoln springboard into AJ with an elbow to break up what looked like a three count!  Lincoln pickup, slams AJ, Boxcar slugs away on Lincoln, suplex!  Boxcar kicks away, AJ circles the ring, whip crossbody caught, powerbomb!  AJ drop kicks on Boxcar in the seated position.  AJ gutwrench suplex, northern lights suplex gets two on Lincoln.  Boxcar kicks away, clothesline.  Lincoln slugs away, does a flip move and into a facebuster.  Choke by Ray on AJ.  Lincoln goes for a sunset flip, AJ gets him, it's the Tarantula!  Now Crossroad Kid, Jack Maverick, Colton Cash, Danielle Cash have come out of the curtain, Colton has a chair!  They're up to no good!  German suplex by Boxcar on AJ gets two.  Lincoln slugs away on Boxcar, whip clothesline, AJ wants Lincoln to cover, then yanks him off.  AJ tosses Lincoln out, AJ throws Boxcar out.  AJ shoots a glance at the four on the stage, suicide crossbody to the floor!  Powers gets his own chair and whacks someone in the back.  Lincoln gets the chair and whacks AJ in the head.  Lincoln circles the ring, Colton lays in wait!  Lincoln puts Powers back in, Boxcar in, slingslot legdrop on Boxcar, sleeper hold by AJ.  Double jawbreaker, Chosen Few come in, Colton in the ring and blasts Ray Lincoln and Boxcar J with the chair, the referee just STANDS there with a dumb look on his face.  AJ Powers with a death valley driver into a powerslam on Lincoln for the win.  What the heck business did those three guys have in this match???  The retarded referee needs to go back to refereeing school, cause this dimwit idiot moron must had skipped the lesson where it was taught that jumping in the ring and hitting someone with a chair is an automatic DQ.

WINNER:  AJ Powers pin -> 8:30 mins. ***½

They call this match the "Blue Collar Brawl".  In an interesting twist, they have numbers one to four start the match.  Announced intervals are two minutes.

#1. "The Iron Chef" Leo Lagossi 220lbs. Paris, France.  He TRIPS on the stairs coming down from the stage.

#2. Ace Dorrity 155lbs. London, England.  That music just doesn't work for an entrance theme.

Uh oh, they aren't done!  Cain throws Pride back in, Michaels back out, Shamous back out.  They beat on Jaxson Pride.  Lucky Dane runs out here, with Conway, Clark, Lincoln.  Brawl in the ring, and the heels run off.  Rumble ended up to about 45 second intervals.  Mickey McNelson gets a shot at the vacant heavyweight title down the road.  I don't know how they are deciding a champ here.  I'm gonna forego rating the rumble.

The Verdict:  Wrestling in this show varied greatly from match to match.  Show got off to a real sloppy start, really picked up when we got to the second tag match, hit the skids after intermission with the lame comedy act affecting the rumble, then got back on track with the triple threat despite the garbage finish and the rumble.  Booking needs some improvement, but the bad doesn't drag the show down so it is...

Thumbs up.
