The Rap Sheet - from the Crimefighter
Great American Wrestling's Wrestlecade
11/21/2K4  Decatur, IL

Whew, two shows in one weekend...

Live from the old Eagle's in Decatur.  Your ring announcer is Slick Rick Castle, your other commentator in the booth is Chris Lee.  They're doing live commentary but the way the sound echoes around the building I can't really understand what they are saying.  Attendance, with comps was a little more than 100.  There were only three rows of chairs put up around the ring though.  The ceiling is high enough for someone to stand on the top rope, but not for doing flips and stuff.

Well we're having problems with the music tonight.  Mr. Benjamin comes out to make an announcement.  The Chosen Few & the woman team of Danielle Cash & Nite Angel due to a scheduling conflict have forfieted out of the tourney cause their home fed had a show tonight.  Course he calls it missing their flights.  Um yeah.  So they are having the match for the tag titles changed to a triple threat elimination with a third team inserted.  Hot Commodity come out and will do almost anything to rejoin GAW.  Yeah this was the team that quit a month ago due to lack of funds and dissatisifaction with the way things were going.  Benjamin lets them in if they work as security tonight.  They don't seem happy, but hey, it could had been a LOT worse.

Castle mocks me for booing him, going boo boo boo himself.  You know, it's a rarity that a ring announcer gets more heat than some of the wrestlers and basks in it.  It's usually the ring announcer getting the crowd pumped up for a match.

Apriq Laveq 220lbs. Germany vs. Truk Thompson 300lbs. Mechanicsburg, IL - Well Apriq has been obsessed with getting Kaval and actually beat him bloody last show here.  Yes Mechanicsburg is an actual town in my county.  Truck attacks, Apriq barely gets a clothesline.  Headlock Apriq, Truk scoop slam, elbow Truk gets two.  Apriq clobbers Truk, yank off the ropes, headbutt LOW BLOW gets two.  Suplex attempt blocked, Truk suplex gets two.  Double arm DDT Truk gets two.  Choke Apriq, whip hip toss gets two.  Facelock to the mat gets two.  Running splash Truk gets two.  Whip corner, chops Truk, sloppy DDT gets two.  Apriq whip knee, ab stretch, Truk throws him off.  They go outside, LOW BLOW Apriq, whip stairs, rear chinlock and knee Apriq.  Truk up, whip spinebuster gets two.  Whip clothesline Truk, scissors the arm, legdrop, vices it.  Apriq with a rake, whip sideslam Truk gets two.  Truk whip to the corner, ten punch count, messy bulldog where Apriq hits the mat early getting two.  Apriq with a knee to the face, powerslam Truk gets two, SPEAR Truk gets three!  Both guys are quite green and execution of manuevers needs some work cause it didn't look that great.  Yeah I know the average fan wouldn't notice this stuff.

WINNER:  Truk Thompson pin -> 12:50 mins. *

GAW Tag Team Championship - Triple Threat Elimination

Irish Revolution 467lbs. combined Belfast, Ireland - Mickey & Shamus McNelson w/ Pat Mugroin vs. The Animals 450lbs. combined "The Playground" - George Jr. & George 3rd vs. Maximum Impact 369lbs. combined - Hardcore KC Kansas City, MO & "The Marvel" Shane Matthews Atlantic City, NJ - Well I didn't expect this change to happen, actually I knew about it for days but after last month's debacle my spirits aren't raised that much.  Max Impact are banged up from yesterday's tables match, but I'm hoping the home team gets something out of this weekend.  I'd also like to note that Shane Matthews drives like a freaking maniac on the highway and if I was a full-fledged police officier I would had written him a ticket.  With a name like Mugroin, I'd be a cranky person too.  "The Wrangler" Eric Ruffington is the referee.  Shane and Mickey start.  Lockup, armbar Shane, tag KC, armbar legdrop takedown.  Armwringer tag Shane, dropkick gets two.  Armwrench Shane, tag KC, elbow.  Whip armdrag KC, legdrop gets two.  Shane goes up, axe to the arm gets two.  Shane whip, Mickey hooks the rope, Shane charges and goes flying out.  Brawl outside the ring, toss in gets two.  Irish Revolution with some cheating, one Animal stole the cane away from Mugroin, tries to nail one of the IRs in the head with it but nail Shane by mistake, the IRs put Shane in the Clover Crusher and get an elimination.

Shane Matthews, you are the weakest link...goodbye!  He's pinned at 4:20 minutes.

Well there's confusion, it was thought if a member of a team was beat they both had to leave but they say KC can continue the match by himself.  Shrug, okay whatever.  KC with a flying clothesline off the top for two.  Whip reverse clothesline Mickey.  Mugroin trips KC, Ruffington misses it.  Animal breaks up the cover, Mugroin with a caneshot LOW BLOW the Irish Revolution eliminate KC.

Hardcore KC, you are the weakest link...goodbye!  He's pinned at 6:25 minutes.

Once again KC & Marvel's impact continues to be minimized.  They can't catch a break, I expect some villian team to start calling them Minimum Impact or something.  Mugroin runs his mouth at me.  George Jr. goes after Shamus, whip to the corner, BIG SPLASH!  Shots to the throat, forearm to the head gets two.  Goatee slap by Junior, armbar, hip toss by George 3rd for two.  Elbow to the head, whip SLAM Third, elbow gets two.  Tag Junior, whip clothesline, bootwipe, stands on his hair and does another bootwipe.  Third with three headbutts, puts on a clawhold and Shamus gives it up.  Well the Animals have a 2-1 advantage now.

Shamus McNelson, you are the weakest link...goodbye!  He quit at 10:15 minutes.

Junior and Mickey in, chops Junior, suplex Junior gets two.  Beatdown in the corner, snap mare Junior, chops.  Shamus who hasn't gone to the back had brass knucks and BLASTS Junior in the head giving Mickey the pin.  Oh joy.

George "The Animal" Junior, you ARE the weakest link...goodbye!  He's pinned at 12:20 minutes.

Third in, he bites, snap mare gets two.  Mickey with a kick, slam, he kicks away, elbow gets a three count as Shamus holds the foot so he can't kick out.  Sheesh, cheap as heck.

WINNERS and NEW CHAMPS:  The Irish Revolution pin -> 14:25 mins. *¾

Well match wasn't as bad as I had feared, perhaps the heavy crititism I lobbed at them about last month's show caused them to step it up a bit.  I know the Animals aren't that great, but I was hoping for a decisive victory out of one of these teams.  Maximum Impact come back out, they are complaining about the misfired cane shot as the IRs celebrate their title win.  Animals and Max Impact go back to the ring as the IRs leave.  They bring kids in the ring to dance.

Chip Conway 125lbs. Anytown, USA vs. "Extreme Enforcer" Gavin Alexander 265lbs. Atlantic City, NJ - Chip has been not been too happy about 3CW guys losing.  Well, a featherweight versus a heavyweight, MISMATCH!  Chip attacks, Gavin shoves him.  Armwringer, Russian Leg Sweep Gavin.  Chop Gavin, chop Chip, clothesline Gavin, fistdrop.  Gavin with the sidewalk slam for two.  Gavin chokes away, whip Chip with a kick to the gut, Fameasser off the top rope Chip gets the pin!  Already?  Forgot to start the timer but it was reported to be the length shown.

WINNER:  Chip Conway pin -> 4:45 mins. *

Gavin does a chokeslam spinebuster combo move after the match to signify being a sore loser.

Dickie Williams 280lbs. "The Basement" w/ the Animals vs. Shamus McNelson 362lbs. Belfast, Ireland w/ Mickey McNelson & Pat Mugroin - Wow, double duty for Shamus too.  Dickie with a kick to the shin, whip clothesline, whip hip toss.  Dickie for some reason gives Shamus a hug but he pounds him down and applies a headlock.  Dickie with a side suplex, elbow gets two.  Williams does some sort of act with his shirt.  Whip splash Shamus, legdrop gets two.  Clothesline Shamus, on the floor, Shamus pounds Dickie to the point that he starts bleeding.  Headbutt Shamus, toss in, Dickie complains loudly about people always trying to beat him up.  Shamus kicks in the corner, a rather bad looking bodyslam, half crab Shamus.  Dickie with a LOW BLOW, whip splash misses!  Belly to belly suplex Shamus, illegal belt shot by Mickey, splash Shamus gets two.  Another beltshot that the ref sees and it's a DQ.

WINNER:  Dickie Williams DQ -> 6:50 mins. *½

The IR's are continuing the assualt, chairshot to the back, Animals finally run out to clear the ring.  We go to intermission.

"The Freshman" Matt Boston 132lbs. Carbondale, IL vs. "The Spotlight" Spencer Powers 180lbs. Miami, FL - Well Spencer is who El Diablo Silverado is without a mask, and he moved to Miami no longer fitting in with the Latino population over there.  The Spotlight is arguing with fans already and wants the mike.  Powers says this part of the show that gets good, shoot comment not meant to be one?  He says he's the main attraction and the life of the party, the person we all paid to see.  Someone wants a refund.  Marty Jennetty chant attempt doesn't get the crowd going along, mainly cause they aren't aware of the connection, but it sure got SSP screaming at me.  Boston is a bit sore from yesterday's table match, sporting a sore shoulder.  Powers kicks away, choke on the top rope, choke on the bottom rope.  SSP with three rib breakers, shoulderblocks.  Whip crossbody Boston gets two.  Small package Boston gets two.  Kick OK roll gets two.  SSP clothesline, knee drop, he stomps away.  I came up with a new sign "DIM BULB" and try the Marty chant JUST to get his attention.  SSP whip to the corner but eats a boot.  Boston tornado DDT gets two.  Whip reverse flying headscissors Boston.  X-Factor SSP, whip knee to the gut three times.  SSP with the ab stretch and uses the rope.  Boston hip toss, drop kick, another tornado DDT gets two.  Slugfest, SSP overpowers him and gets the Unprettier (maybe he's gonna call it "lights out" now?) and gets the pin.

WINNER:  "The Spotlight" Spencer Powers pin -> 8:50 mins. **¾

Survivor Series Match

JC Michaels 304lbs. Hollywood, CA, Billy Reno 156lbs. Reno, NV, Mississippi Madman Don Jackson 370lbs. Olive Branch, MS w/ Mr. Benjamin vs. Jaxson Pride 215lbs. Freedom, PA, Joe Cain 120lbs. Decatur, IL, Plowboy Petey Clark 175lbs. Clark Family Farm - Eric Ruffington is reffing this one.  Joe and Reno start, the two smaller men in the match.  Armbar Reno, hammerlock, headlock takedown Joe, scissor by Reno.  Lockup hip toss Reno, whip clothesline Joe, elbow gets two.  Suplex Joe, tag Pride.  Whip spinebuster Pride gets two.  Tag Clark, whip clothesline Pete.  The bad guys get Clark, JC in, whip sideslam gets two.  Tag Madman, he pounds away and chops, whip elbow Madman, KO punch, tag Reno.  Double team pick up and drop, splash gets two.  Drop kick Reno, legdrop gets two.  Whip clothesline Clark, tag Pride, slam legdrop gets two.  Chops, shoulderblocks Pride, suplex gets two.  Tag Pete, Juvy Driver gets two.  Whip to the enemy corner, who tags Madman, he runs Ruffington out.  Madman whip BOOT, slam, tag JC.  Slam Madman, double elbows, choke, tag Reno.  Clark pulls off a TKO out of nowhere to eliminate Reno.

Billy Reno, you ARE the weakest link!  Goodbye at 8:50 mins.

Madman in, clothesline, headbutts, choke in the corner, whip splash misses, clothesline Clark has no effect.  Boot Madman, whip SPEAR Madman and Clark is done for.

Petey Clark, you ARE the weakest link!  Goodbye at 10:30 mins.

Joe Cain, the featherweight, jumps in against the superheavyweight.  Oh dear, this is gonna be a massacre.  Whip Madman throws Cain in the air.  Powerbomb Madman, tag JC, whip Joe gets a clothesline getting two.  Sheesh, that powerbomb did little damage.  JC with a DDT gets two.  Rear chinlock and a knee JC, LOW BLOW, drop kick Joe gets two.  Tag Pride, tag Madman.  Pride hits the leg, drop kick, whip sunset flip is blocked, but Madman SITS on him for two.  Slam Madman, splash misses, tag Joe.  Madman shoves him, side suplex, legdrop misses.  Dang I thought he was gonna splash his 370 on this little 120 pound body.  Joe goes to the top, missile drop kick gets two.  Madman throws Joe off into Ruffington's arm, who throws him back on him repeatedly like midgets do.  Madman up, 5th floor on Cain, Madman screams at Ruffington and gives HIM the double chokeslam.  Madman with ANOTHER double chokeslam on Joe.  Hot Commodity get up and try restoring order.  Another referee comes in and DQ's Madman.

Mississippi Madman you ARE the weakest link!  Goodbye at 18:25 mins.

JC Michaels pins Joe Cain in the process.

Joe Cain you ARE the weakest link!  Goodbye at 18:30 mins.

It's down to the former tag team of Drive Thru.  JC balks at fighting his former partner.  Whip clothesline JC, slam, elbow gets two.  Choke JC, sleeper JC, Pride enzuigiri gets two.  Shining wizard Pride gets two.  Monkey flip attempt blocked, hammerlock behind the head JC, whip Pride with the flatliner.  Benjamin is up, tosses a chain in, Pride walks right into a KO punch with the chain despite ample warning and it's slim pickings for the win.  You know something, when the "owner of the promotion" cares more about certain people winning than the overall operation of the promotion as a whole, there's trouble.

WINNER and SOLE SURVIVOR:  JC Michaels pin -> 22:55 mins. **½

GAW Heavyweight Championship
Lucky Dane 215lbs. Dublin, OH w/ Lizzy O'Shea vs. "Golden Boy" Mickey McNelson 205lbs. Belfast, Ireland w/ Shamus & Pat Mugroin - Man that belt looks exactly the same as the WCW US title.  At least the tag belts don't look like anyone elses.  Mugroin argues with me again.  Mickey attacks, whip hip toss Dane, armdrag, and dumps Mickey outside.  Dane chases, chokes Mickey and the manager.  Whip clothesline Mickey gets two.  Elbows Dane, chop, grabs the chest, clothesline gets two.  Suplex Dane, choke with the tag rope, snap mare, sleeper hold.  Dane stomps away, sits on him, LOW BLOW between the legs!  Ram to the post Dane, whip apron Mickey, toss into the post, toss in gets two.  Whip DDT Dane gets two.  Slam Dane, knee, whip clothesline Dane, whip reverse Mcgroin hooks the foot.  Lizzy goes arguing, slam Mickey, he goes up, Dane slams him off.  Mickey gets a powerslam though for two.  Whip Mick BOOT on Dane.  Whip clothesline Dane, kick armbar DDT Dane gets two.  Dane fetches the cerael box and BLASTS him with it for the pin!  Sheesh, what was in that box?  Anything?  Whole crowd gets showered with the contents.

WINNER and NEW CHAMP:  Lucky Dane pin -> 11:10 mins. **¼

Lucky Dane celebrates his title win with Lizzy.  And the show is over.

The Verdict:  Well having seen an excellent show the previous evening casting a long shadow over this event, it was gonna be impossible to outdo it.  It's still got a long way to go before giving anyone competition as a number of guys are still green.  Overall it was a better show than the last event, nothing that could be looked at as crappy so it's enough for me to go...

Thumbs in the middle.
