The Rap Sheet - by the Crimefighter
Intergalactic Wrestling Federation, Springfield, IL
Illinois State Fair, 8-12-2002

This was the first of three wrestling events in this month of August in Springfield. This show had free admission, but of course you had to buy a ticket to get in the fairgrounds and pay for parking. Did not mess with taking a lot of notes for this one, didn't feel like doing so. Attendance appeared to be about 300 or 400. This turned out to be one of the final matches of Rocco Rock as he passes away a little more than a month later.

See the pretty decent photos of this show at http://mudlist.betterbox.net/icw

American Kick Boxer vs. Polaris - AKB was the champion of SOMETHING, but they didn't announce WHAT kind of champion he was, looked like a replica of the WWF cruiserweight title. During the match, AKB used a lot of hard kicks and tore up Polaris's leg toward the end. AKB finishes him with the death valley driver. Match was not what you usually get from cruisers, but it was an acceptable opener.

WINNER: American Kick Boxer pin -> 6 mins. *½

Boink w/ Dink vs. Don Basher - No that was not a misprint, Boink is different from Doink, as is this Dink not midget-wrestler Tiger Jackson. Boink had a belt too, a replica of the WCW US Title. The crowd kept calling Basher 'fatso', including kids given the mike to shout it. Clowns pretty much played around with Basher who only got token offense in before losing. Boink finishes off Basher with a buttdrop from the second rope and gets the pin. Hardly any wrestling in the match.

WINNER: Boink pin -> 3 mins. DUD

Ray Orndorff vs. Mr. Smiley - Yes this is the brother of Mr. Wonderful. Mr. Smiley is a red-headed white-faced evil clown. Ray was attacked before he removed his jacket (had lots of time to remove it beforehand). Smiley of course doesn't clown around with Orndorff, using a different version of a broncobuster. But it was not to be, Orndorff hits a form of the stone cold stunner for the win. One wonders why Ray hasn't gotten anywhere close to the level of success as Paul.

WINNER: Ray Orndorff pin -> 6 mins. **

Combat Kid Rick Idol vs. Mr. E - The ring announcer kept telling the crowd what moves Idol was setting up for, giving Mr. E a bunch of chances. Following a Frankenstein, Mr. E tries for a superplex but is shoved off and Idol hits an elbowdrop from the top rope.

WINNER: Combat Kid Rick Idol pin -> 8 mins. **½

Ronnie Vegas & Lady Luck come out introduced as the owners of IWF. Vegas then rants about his match with Bobo Brazil Jr. later saying he put his daddy out of business (what you killed him??? Yeah Bobo Sr. is deceased but an odd choice of words there) and will be doing the same to Bobo Jr. Lady Luck thanks the fans for coming to the fair.

Handicap Match
King Kong Bundy vs. Vortex & Pooh-Loc - The two kids were about 300 lbs. combined and all they could do was complain about Springfield but target the Chicago Bulls as the crowd shouts at them "wrong city". Then they say Bundy is washed up. But once Bundy comes out they try to beat him down but Bundy has none of it as he sends them both to the corner and does double avalanche in the corner. He proceeds to pin them both with their CHESTS DOWN instead of the shoulders. Supposed to pin the shoulders! After the match some guy that came out with Bundy was crowing in the ring about KKB and how successful he'd be with him as a manager. Bundy takes offense and squashes him.

WINNER: King Kong Bundy pin -> 1:30 mins. DUD

The cage is set up while Bundy poses for pictures and in 15 minutes or so we have...

Tag Team Cage Match
Public Enemy vs. Itch & Bouncer - Before the match Itch and Bouncer did not want to come out, TPE came out and spend a long time loading up the caged ring with four tables, several water bottles, a mop, a couple chairs and crutch. The sound guys had major trouble with a CD player so the opposition came out to no music. Itch complained about state having too many hillybillies. Errr...this city is NOT KNOWN FOR a hillybilly population. Itch kept being called a leprechaun with his green hair and jersey. TPE by the way, skipped out of ECW and didn't honor a contracted appearance at an ECW PPV to go to the WWF, which got them so much bad-will from the WWF wrestlers who promptly ran them out of the company and into obscurity. Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge stacked two tables and set Bouncer on top for Rocco to senton bomb him breaking Bouncer and the stack for the pin. After the match Itch and Bouncer blame each other for the loss and start fighting, but Itch stops Bouncer saying "they [the fans] ain't worth it" and they leave. Sadly five weeks later, Rocco Rock would die from a heart attack at the age of 49.

WINNERS: Public Ememy pin -> 10 min. *½

Bobo Brazil Jr. vs. Diceman Ronnie Vegas - The ref tried to clear out all the toys left behind, but Vegas threw them all back into the ring. Vegas had a WWF heavyweight title belt replica, with the logo blackened out. Bobo Jr. was attacked right when he entered the ring. All stuff remaining in the ring was used, and the mop was shattered into pieces, and the metal crutch shattered into pieces. Bobo Jr. no-sold many blows to the head with the chairs. Finish came anti-climatically when Bobo Jr. hit the ropes and did a flying headbutt for three and the unnamed title belt. Bobo Jr. apparently was not done, he continued to beat him down multiple times. He knocked him around some more inside the cage, then attacked him again after Lady Luck and his son got him back to the tent, smashing his head against a ringside table. After about half the crowd had left the bleachers, Bobo Jr. attacked again slamming Vegas on the table which didn't break, then grabbed him again and slammed him thru the table. Geez, I guess Bobo Jr. must think Vegas did kill his dad. The ring announcer kept calling for a paramedic, which never came.

WINNER: Bobo Brazil Jr. pin -> 10 min. *½

Well the show was kept to less than two hours, and probably just as well since the in ring performances were less than stellar. Course, this was a free show (pay admission to the fair of course) kept to two hours due to the setting sun.
