The Rap Sheet - from the Mad Conservative
Independent Wrestling Association Mid-South - April Bloodshowers
4/1/2K5 Herrin, IL
Vacation at last, and I finally get to see what all the hype is...
The views expressed by Crimefighter are solely his own, and do not
reflect the views of anyone who happens to read this rap sheet.
The intended audience of this rap sheet is for smart fans and insiders
who read books like "Wrestling's One Ring Circus" and "The Death of
WCW", or read websites like 1wrestling.com, 411mania.com, pwinsider.com
or insidepulse.com. If you shun that sort of stuff, you probably won't
like the writing style I use. And as a wrestling fan, I like my
workrate a lot more than the BS, cause the nuts and bolts of the show
IS the wrestling after all. The archive of all prior rap sheet is
stored at http://rap-sheet.tripod.com.
Vacation, a trip to Tennessee and Virginia is something I've been
trying to do for a couple years but something kept happening to scrub
the plans. Finally things worked out where I could hit the road
and drive down there, and it just so happened that IWA-MS scheduled a
show the day I was to begin the trek southeast. So I scheduled a
couple hours off early on Friday to hit the road and get there before
the show starts.
The Herrin Civic Center is pretty much a theater, not like what a civic
center would be for something like conventions and stuff. The
seats of course were all on one side of the ring facing the stage where
the ring was set up on top. Total attendance was between
170-180. The sound system in the civic center appeared to have
problems as it sounded funny when people talked. I don't know if
the ring that was used was IWA-MS's own or if they rented it from
another promotion, but someone claimed the poles shook every time
someone ran the ropes. I certainly did not notice that.
Tickets ranged from $10 to $25, the higher ticket prices had the seats
closer to the stage. Those sitting in the front row must have had
big crooks in their necks looking straight up and if there was mat
wrestling they'd have to stand. The rental rate for the building
was reasonable, a little less than what my own local fed pays for
renting the building they use. Needless to say they will be going
back to Herrin every so often.
Sabu was supposed to appear for an autograph session, but he fell ill
and had to seek treatment that day. Chris Candido was also
supposed to appear for a match but was scratched due to raising plane
ticket prices. Too bad.
Live from the Herrin Civic Center. Ian Rotten addresses the crowd
and talks about the lineup. He warns about the barbed wire match,
if someone doesn't like that stuff they can leave after the first eight
bouts and they'll have gotten their moneys worth. He also warns
that the wrestlers may fight through the crowd and if they are in your
path, to get your stuff and outta the way. Why? They have a
whole stage to fight on! He says Billy Gunn will be here tonight,
and Danny Daniels who had a brutal dog-collar match two weeks ago
defends his title against Jimmy Jacobs. He then introduces the
guest ring announcer Kevin Hunsperger from WSIL 3 in Harrisburg.
Apparently he got smacked by Gunn during the morning newscast.
Ian says what they do is different from what airs on Monday and
Thursday nights. Ian addresses why Sabu wasn't here, he woke up
ill and visited the doctors today so he wouldn't have another $200
grand hospital bill later. Ian also teases Axl Rotten coming to a
future show, that being 4/30.
Arik Cannon ???lbs. Chicago, IL vs. IWA World Six-Man Champ Trik Davis
???lbs. Chicago, IL - Trik Davis is one third of the six man champs
with Brad Bradley & Ryan Boz. Cannon is coming off a broken
collarbone injury. 15 minute time limit. They shake hands
to start, they lockup, and break clean. Trading of wristlocks,
Arik shouts if he should break his arm, Trik goes to the leg.
They wrestle on the mat for quite a while, switching around until Trik
comes up with an armbar. Five minutes elapsed. Trik with an
armdrag, some more mat chain wrestling. Trik strings some
armdrags, Arik bails out. Someone comments that this is circa
1982 wrestling. A fan in the front row offers Arik his kendo
stick. He takes a pass and returns to the ring, Trik with a whip,
hair yank by Arik, back body drop, chops, back breaker and side slam
gets two. Trik attacks, Arik fires with a hard slap to the chin,
yowch! Arik with a standing suplex gets two. Arik hits the
RUDE AWAKENING and shouts let's hear it for Trik! Arik sets up
Trik, and hits a HANGMAN'S PEDIGREE for two! Dang. Trik
with a snap mare, side elbow, side kick, bashes him with a knee in the
corner. Trik with a neckbreaker gets two. The ring
announcer is giving time remaining, and they're being
shortchanged. Arik tries something but it's blocked, settles for
a gut wrench for two. They trade pin attempts and time expires
***EARLY*** at...
NO WINNER: Time limit draw -> 13:40 mins. **
Okay, people wonder why I'm making a big deal about this? Well if
you're gonna have a time limit don't cheat them outta their time, and
we could had gotten a winner instead of a draw. And Arik is
begging for a time extension as I am screaming that they got
shortchanged by a minute and a half. He's denied the
extension. I hold up a sign saying "Get a new watch timekeeper!"
every time they're way off on the clock. As for the match, I
could tell a lot of people didn't exactly care for it. There was
nothing really wrong with the technical wrestling going on between two
faces, someone thinks the opener went longer than it should (with how
long a typical IWA-MS show goes they have a point) and called it a
"Broadway Finish" whatever the heck that's supposed to mean.
Maybe the folks had never seen a pure technical match before but it was
okay with me.
NWA Midwest/IWA Women's Championship
(c)Daizee Haze ???lbs. Forest Park, IL vs. Rain ???lbs. St. Paul, MN -
Haze gets the big hometown reaction as she has her roots in nearby St.
Louis and quite a few made the trip down here to see her in action
again. Rain is one half of the popular Lacey & Rain duo of
the midwest, but Lacey ain't here, darn. Rain with a slap, Haze
with a takedown in response, they fight over a wristlock. Haze
with a snap mare, rollup gets two. Clothesline, elbow, flying
headscissors Haze. Here come the chops...Rain reverses the whip
to the corner and hits the clothesline for two. Snap mare,
dropkick to the back gets two for Rain. Snap mare and kick by
Rain, she drags Haze to the post and wraps the arm around it.
Rain pounds away on the apron, Haze pulls out a victory roll for
two. Arm yank to the mat by Rain gets two. And here's the
cross-legged nelson! Haze pushes backward and nearly pins
her. Rain with a clothesline gets two, Rain goes for an armbar
using a leg. Slam attempt reversed into DDT by Haze, she slugs
away, then goes up...MISSILE DROPKICK gets two! Rain with the
Russian leg sweep gets two. Haze though finishes with a punch in
the center of the chest and a hard kick to the head for the pin.
Well this match turned out okay, it's not something the WWE knows how
to do anymore. I don't agree with the claim that Haze ain't a
"believable" wrestler, has he ever seen Christy Hemme wrestle?
WINNER and STILL CHAMP: Daizee Haze pin -> 8:40 mins. **¾
Silas Young & NWA Midwest Tag Champ "Underwear Model" Eric Priest
vs. The Iron Saints - Vito & Sal Thomaselli vs. Lone Star & TJ
Dalton w/ Penepole - Priest takes the mike and says that was the worst
intro he's ever heard and rambles on about how much of a sexy man he
supposedly is. Priest's co-champ partner is Matt Longtime, who I
don't think wrestles in IWA-MS. They spend time trying to decide
who will start the match, as the heels keep tagging out and won't lock
up. Finally it's Star and Young. Star slugs away on Young,
hits a spinebuster for two. Vito comes in, demands Star tag
TJ. Vito gets an armbar on TJ on the mat, TJ up and does a hip
toss, armdrag, dropkick for two. Vito with the clothesline, tag
Sal, TJ with a hurraconranna. Clothesline Sal, snap mare and
kick. Sal with the side kick, tag Vito, headbutts. They
trade chops, tag Young and he armdrags TJ. TJ manages an armdrag
off the whip, atomic drop, dropkick and Young gets hung up the
ropes! Thomaselli knocks Star to the floor, side suplex by Vito
gets two. Vito tags Sal, he goes up, slam by Vito, legdrop by Sal
gets two. Sal slugs away on TJ, tags Young in. Young
standing suplex gets two. Man the crowd gets vocal with the
wrestlers, TJ gets up, elbows to the gut but runs into a knee.
Tag Priest, he stomps and chokes away. Lone Star tries to get in,
Priest whip BIG BOOT to the face of TJ and a ONE FOOT cover gets
one. TJ tries to chop, whip to the corner, eats another
elbow. Young with a boot to the face, choke by Priest.
Priest works him in the corner, LOW BLOW by Priest! Wrestlers
yell at the crowd, TJ tries fighting back, tilt-a-whirl face slam by
Priest and the Saints breaks up the cover. Young argues with the
Thomaselli's, TJ with a rollup and Vito breaks it up. Young
chokes TJ in the corner, tag Sal, German suplex gets two. Sal
whip to the corner, TJ slips away and tags Star. Star bangs Young
& Priest together, the Saints block a similar attempt but he
chokeslams them both for two! Star tags TJ, whip kick to the
face! Star is tripped and dragged outta the ring, TJ lifts Vito,
Young and Priest beat Star on the floor, Iron Saints have TJ...DOUBLE
FLAPJACK! Sal goes up, Vito has TJ in a pendulum, Sal STOMPS HIM
FROM THE TOP ROPE!!! They get the pin. Fun little match it
was.
WINNERS: The Iron Saints pin -> 11:20 mins. ***
IWA Light Heavyweight Championship
(c)Delirious ???lbs. Edge of Sanity vs. Josh Abercombie ???lbs.
Kalmazoo, MI - They fight over an armbar, Josh takes control and takes
him down. Leg scissors Delirious, shoulderblocks Josh, rollups
get one. Headlock Delirious, rollup Josh gets two. They run
the ropes, armdrag by Josh. Delirious with TWENTY STRAIGHT
clotheslines in the corner on Josh! Dang! Josh bails,
baseball slide misses, there's a fight on the floor before they go back
in, Delirious goes up top, Josh shoves him off, uppercut Josh, whip
flapjack, hard kicks get Josh two. Josh whip elbow, hits a second
rope moonsault for two. Josh with a slam, he goes up, Delirious
moves, Josh hops down and climbs up the opposite corner, but Delirious
moves and Josh looks like an idiot. Delirious goes up instead but
Josh hits a springboard dropkick knocking him to the floor. Josh
springboard moonsault to the floor off the stage and INTO THE FRONT
ROW! Yikes! Somehow they don't land in anyone's lap!
They get back in the ring, moves are blocked, clothesline by Delirious,
whip to the corner Delirious goes up and hits a missile dropkick to the
back of Josh. Running knee to the face, Delirious goes back up
but misses the axe handle. Josh hits a reverse backbreaker,
neckbreaker. Josh hits a snap mare into a face plant for
two. Delirious hits a flip over short powerbomb for three
(Chemical Imbalance 2?)! Enjoyable match, I don't agree with
someone's claim that the match was sloppy.
WINNER and STILL CHAMP: Delirious pin -> 11:35 mins. ***½
We have our first intermission, and it's 9:10pm! Ian announces
the date of the next show and goofs up on the month, haha. The
Civic Center will be selling tickets to the next show, someone wants to
buy tickets to sit on the stage. Well I chatted with Mickie
Knuckles for a little while about the CW.com regulars since she was out
there at the merchandise table, MsChif was sitting at the other end of
it. And these gals are gonna cut each other up shortly.
Billy Gunn came out for pictures, Rain was also out there.
"The Outlaw" Billy Gunn ???lbs. Orlando, FL vs. "Wild-eyed Southern
Boy" Tracey Smothers ???lbs. Springfield, TN w/ Rain - Gunn gets a lot
of crowd support. Smothers has the mike and screams at everyone
to shut up. Gunn gets off the stage and sits in the front
row. Good ole cheer off to start as Tracey talks trash and tells
us all what NOT to chant at him or else. Gee, the reverse
psychology really works. Gunn has the mike and does the old "suck
it" routine. Lockup and shove by Gunn, big stall-a-thon.
Gunn gets a headscissors on the mat, but Tracey gets out and stalls
some more. Shoulderblock from Gunn. Tracey runs his mouth
some more in embarrassment, prompting Billy to drop trough.
Tracey kicks him, crossbody Gunn gets two. Drop kick and Tracey
bails again . Well this is really old school sports entertainment
crap. Billy yells "SUCK IT!", Tracey yanks Gunn outside, post ram
by Gunn, Tracey hits his arm on the post, Tracey finally shoves Gunn
into the post. Rain gets her licks in, Smothers chokes
away. Gunn gets a backslide for two, Tracey clothesline gets
one. Sunset flip Gunn gets one, Tracey punches him in the neck,
snap mare, headlock on the mat using the ropes with Rain's help.
Yawn. Gunn rollup gets one cause Rain ties the ref up.
Headlock on the mat by Tracey, Gunn elbows out, Tracey pounds in the
corner, Gunn pounds in the corner. Gunn hits a forearm off an
irish whip, clothesline, splash, and it's THE ONE AND ONLY! Rain
jumps on the apron, Gunn comes over and gives her a big kiss.
Tracey charges and knocks Rain off, Gunn with the FAMEASSER and it's
over! That was not the kind of match I care to see, long, old
school and boorish, it's something Intergalactic Wrestling Federation
would do for a main event.
WINNER: "Outlaw" Billy Gunn pin -> 12:45 mins. *½
Billy Gunn teases pulling down his trunks again, Ian Rotten comes out
begging him not to, but Gunn does it quick. Ian says Gunn can
still go, he had gotten a lot of flak for even bringing him to IWA-MS,
but getting Gunn out of New York away from Satan himself Vince McMahon
yielded dividends. Silas Young comes out wanting to gripe, but
Gunn cuts him off. Ian scoffs at Young being out here and calls
him a faggot for what he's wearing. Ian says for all the net that
crapped on him for bringing Gunn in, they say SUCK IT. Young
scoffs at Ian showing appreciation for Gunn as if anyone gives a crap
about it. Ian scoffs at Young thinking he'll be a big superstar
and it's better to be a has-been than a never-was. He even teases
a reunion of the New Age Outlaws. Ian says Silas Young will be
cuffed to a ringpost while Billy Gunn beats Eric Priest the next night
in Salem so he'll learn what it's like to be a real superstar.
Well gee, who had the better match this evening huh? Superstar
does not necessarily equal great wrestler.
First Blood Match
MsChif ???lbs. St. Louis, MO vs. Mickie Knuckles ???lbs. Clarksville,
IN- Well this has been billed as the first women's blood match in the
country. I'm not thrilled with the idea of women cutting each
other up though. MsChif has the wild partially dyed green
hair. MsChif jumps Mickie before the bell, slugfest in the ring,
kick to the face by MsChif. She gets the spiked belt and tries to
shove Mickie's face into it but she blocks, uppercut by Mick and gets a
chair. Mickie misses the swing, MsChif tries a DDT but it's
blocked, Mickie dumps her out, SUICIDE DIVE to the floor!
Clothesline on the floor, MsChif with a kick to the face and tries
using the spike belt but she blocks it. They go off the stage,
Mickie with a headbutt, ram against the stage, CHOPS!!!
MsChif with a whip against the wall! They're fighting up the side
of the arena, Mickie rams MsChif against the wall, ref checks on the
heads. They're coming in my direction! They ram heads into
the seats, they're up in the curtain, they go out the back door!
MsChif tries going up a ladder to where the sound guys are and does a
crossbody! MsChif pounds away on the floor, now they're coming up
the sixth row! They're in front of me, Mickie with a double
hairpull! Where are they going? MsChif bites, whip into the
wall goes Mickie. Flat blows ain't gonna cut anyone, why does the
ref keep checking? They're going into the
foyer/concession/merchandise area, as I rush out there before they
do. They go through the doors outside briefly, Mickie tries to
ram MsChif into the trash can, tries to pull the top off but it's
connected together so she throws MsChif into it instead! The
crowd has swarmed the foyer area, and I see that Mickie has a big knot
on her head. Mickie drags MsChif to the merchandise table and
bangs her head against her own photo! MsChif throws a chop,
Mickie hits back with someone, I tell some guy to hand Mickie the kendo
stick, MsChif doesn't give her the chance, the girls get within arms
length and there's no where to go!!! I jump through the
concession window fearing my safety as MsChif BLASTS Mickie with the
kendo stick! The concession guys aren't happy about it, but I
don't wanna get run over by them you know? MsChif beats Mickie on
the head, no cuts yet. The women finally go back towards the
stage. Mickie has a chair, MsChif forearm shot, MsChif puts the
chair on top with the legs tied up, sitting on it while slugging
away. In the melee, the referee gets shoved to the post!
MsChif with the RED SPEW!!! Ref sees Mickie's face covered with
it, but this guy appears to be a lot smarter than your average ref and
isn't fooled. MsChif tries to bite, then fetches the spiked belt
and slugs her in the head with it! Grind to the head with it, and
that DOES cut her as Mickie is screaming! Or was that MsChif
shrieking? Cut above the right eye is visible from where I'm
sitting and the ref stops it.
WINNER: MsChif KO -> 16:50 mins. ***½
Man them girls got a bit too wild in their brawl. The WWE divas
apart from Lita couldn't do this. Mickie has the mike and slowly
stands up as the fans give her an ovation. Mickie says she's been
fighting MsChif for a while, she wants MsChif in a steel cage on the
30th in Herrin! She asks the crowd if they want to see it.
Appears the match has been made. There were gripes about the
finish, but I didn't see much problem with it, actually am glad the
match wasn't ended via the red mist cause it would had been a tainted
win for MsChif. Mickie to her credit was out and interacting with
the fans with her head taped up after the show was over.
NWA Indiana Championship/NWA Midwest X Championship
NWA Midwest X Champ Matt Sydal ???lbs. St. Louis, MO vs. NWA IN Champ
Brandon Thomaselli ???lbs. Montgomery, IL - Hey, we're in Illinois, I
wonder why these state titles are defended out of state?
Originally this was non-title, but Ian Rotten comes out and says since
all these people came to watch how about title versus title? The
wrestlers agree to that idea and it's ON! It's pretty much a
homecoming for Matt Sydal. They lockup, Brandon gets the takedown
and they wrestle on the mat. Matt comes up with an armbar on the
mat. Monkey flip, crossbody by Matt gets two. Sydal does a
bow & arrow but turns it loose and hits a side suplex, standing
moonsault for two. Brandon reverses the whip, throws Matt
straight up and GUT BUSTERS him! Hope he skipped dinner.
Brandon off the ropes and does a running shooting star press for
two! Suplex gets two, double underhook armbar gets two, slam
& kneedrop by Brandon gets two. Matt tries a move, Brandon
tossed him outside, Brandon with a moonsault off the apron onto Sydal,
he showboats, but Sydal knocks him off the stage, Matt with a flying
body tackle, they may be going through the crowd! Chops on the
floor, then go out the exit door briefly, then they trade forearm shots
as they get back in the ring. Sydal moonsaults off Brandon's
back, headbutt to the rear gets two. Backbreaker stretch by
Sydal, drops him, Brandon hits a spinning flapjack for two. They
both go up, Brandon gets hung, drop kick to the face by Sydal.
They trade chops, Brandon gets tied in the ropes again, Matt drop kicks
him. Matt hits some form of a gut wrench suplex for two.
Matt puts Brandon on top, Brandon shoves him down, Brandon with a 450
splash but Matt GOT THE KNEES UP! OUCH!!! Cover gets two,
Matt tries a piledriver but Brandon reverses it into the BeeLee Driver
((c) Justin MacIntyre) for two. Brandon goes up, FROG SPLASH gets
two. They trade rollups, Brandon with a rollup and a bridge, Matt
grabs his arms from underneath and pulls them down to the mat as they
BOTH pin themselves!
NO WINNER: Double pin -> 15:45 mins. ****
Well I've never seen a double pin like that before, some may not have
liked the finish (and there were groans and gripes in the crowd for
sure), but it doesn't bother me one bit. Was afraid the ref might
had called it wrong but this is a smarter than your average ref in the
ring. The guys were handed their belts, the wrong ones,
heh. Excellent match.
We have our second intermission as they put barbed wire on two sides of
the ring and wrap it the HARD way, over all three ropes.
Barbed Wire Hardcore Match
Ian Rotten ???lbs. Louisville, KY vs. JC Bailey ???lbs. w/ Jim Fannen -
Fannen runs his mouth about how much he hates Ian Rotten and even
though he hates JC Bailey too he's better than Ian and when they win
War Games he'll be rid of Ian entirely. I saw Ian Rotten before
the show and man is his forehead all gouged up...and that's when it's
completely healed! He looks a lot different than when I last saw
him wrestling for the old Dallas promotion Global Wrestling
Federation. Right away they try to push themselves into the
wires, Ian with the whip and JC slides out. Back in, JC nearly
sends Ian into the wire with a drop toe hold. Ian does get a hip
toss into the wire! Ian throws some forearm shots, tries to dig
the wire into his head. Ian fetches a chair...BAM! JC is
now bleeding. JC throws Ian into the wire and digs it into his
head and his arm, and bites into it...now Ian is bleeding. They
trade headbutts, JC chokes Ian on the post. Ian with a LOW
BLOW. Rotten with a running kick to the head, Ian suplexes Bailey
ONTO the stairs! Yeek. Ian with a POWERBOMB on the
stage! Ian has a table set up, POWERBOMB through the table!
Ian chokes Bailey with the table strip, and hits him with a table
chunk. Fannen just stands by looking totally
unappreciative. Ian gets another table, JC gets a chair, a whip
into the wire goes JC and looks like he got gouged on the ear.
Ian with a BRAINBUSTER on the chair gets TWO! Suplex attempt is
blocked, JC gets a suplex onto another table! Ian though lights
up a fireball and throws it in his face to burn him and get the
pin. Pretty much a sick brawl, at least they didn't use the
staple gun.
WINNER: Ian Rotten pin -> 11:15 mins. **
We take a THIRD intermission just to remove the barbed wire and clean
up the mess. I think they should have put the barbed wire match
LAST on the show so we wouldn't have to wait even longer for this show
to get over with, it's about 10:45pm. Ian Rotten comes back out
to thank us for coming and to come back on April 30th for the next show
in Herrin. He gives props to the women from earlier and slams the
WWE's divas who don't know a wristlock from a wristwatch and cry cause
the wrestling business is too tough for them. Vince McMahon, are
you listening?
IWA World Heavyweight Championship
(c)Danny Daniels ???lbs. Chicago, IL vs. Jimmy Jacobs ???lbs. Grand
Rapids, MI - The match starts and the crowd gets behind them.
Lockup, they roll into the ropes. Jimmy with a northern lights
suplex gets one. Monkey flip Danny gets two, floatover gets
two. Headlock takedown Jimmy, Danny with an armbar, they chain
wrestle, Jimmy comes up with a wheelbarrow takedown. Danny
scissors the head, shoulderblock have no effect, Danny slaps him hard,
Jimmy punches him, shoudlerblock, armdrag. Japanese arm drag by
Danny, they repeatedly trip each other and shove. They end up
shaking hands and someone has the gall to shout BORING. Danny
shouts back if you're bored then GO HOME! Danny has Jimmy by the
legs but he gets the rope. Daniels with a full nelson, Jacobs
gets free and hits a hurranconranna. Jacobs with a dropkick, chop
gets two. Daniels with a spinning backbreaker and knees to the
back. Daniels with an elevated surfboard, but lets go before he
pins himself. Daniels chops, Jacobs hops over a charging Daniels
to the corner, Daniels tries to toss him but Jacobs gets on the
second rope and hits a clothesline. Jimmy with a double stomp on
the ropes for two. Slugfest which Jimmy wins, Daniels begs for
more, Jimmy charges but gets caught in a back breaker. Danny
chops, whip side elbow gets two. German suplex gets Danny
two. Jimmy gets a tornado DDT for two. Jimmy puts Daniels
on the top rope, he goes up with him, but Daniels drops him HEADFIRST
into the ringpost! Dang that's gotta hurt, and the match
practically comes to a halt as Jacobs is cut and they may have to stop
the match. Crowd chants for Jimmy as he struggles to get
up. Finally Daniels attacks him with a kneeshot to the
head! Daniels with a pedigree into his KNEE gets two! Dang,
he's going for the kill. Daniels with a hard chop, whip and into
a sleeper hold. Jacobs gets up after two raises, side suplex by Daniels
gets two. Jimmy fires up, slugfest in the ring, Daniels charges
and tries to clothesline Jacobs over but he hits the floor himself and
Jacobs tumbles out with him. Ouch. Back body drop on the
floor by Jimmy, he gets a chair and puts over Daniels and sits
down. Jacobs goes back in the ring, SUICIDE DIVE! Jacobs
tosses him in and gets two. Jacobs with the UNPRETTIER gets
two. Jacobs goes for the sliced bread #2 but gets thrown off,
Daniels with the CLOTHESLINE FROM HECK gets two! Powerbomb
attempt is blocked, drop toe hold by Jacobs in the corner, he goes
outside...Jacobs springboard meets a DROP KICK by Daniels! Man
that was dangerous, it's a wonder how Jacobs ain't injured.
Daniels goes up, Jimmy meets him up there, they fight on the top rope,
side suplex by Daniels from the top rope gets two! Daniels with a
PILEDRIVER! POWERBOMB! Daniels with the Boston crab, Jacobs
somehow powers out. Daniels goes up, pulling Jacobs with him but
gets crotched. Jimmy with the Sliced Bread #2 gets two! Jim
goes up, SENTON gets two! Jim goes up again, another SENTON gets
two! Jimmy does another two sentons and this time puts his feet
on the ropes for the pin! It's over!
WINNER and NEW CHAMP: Jimmy Jacobs pin -> 28:45 mins. ****½
Jacobs pulled it off, even though he cheated with the pin. I'm
wondering if that decision is gonna stand. Daniels asks for the
mike, he admits he did it. Daniels mentions the dog collar match
he had a few weeks ago and says he almost bled to death. He says
Jacobs should get all the support he could get so the crowd should give
it to him. Daniels says Jacobs couldn't beat him twice in a row
in a 2/3, 3/5, 4/7 and wants a rematch. Jacobs asks he wants him
tonight, he could beat him in a 2/3, 3/5 but since he's the champ
Daniels does not get a rematch. Huh? It's not for HIM to
decide who gets the title matches. Match was excellent, some of
these bumps were extreme and credit to Jacobs for finishing the match
despite getting knocked out on his feet. If he wasn't really hurt
at all, he did a masterful job at selling that head injury.
The Verdict: Well I can see what the hype has been about with
this promotion, there are flaws, like the show running ridiculously
long and not starting early enough, some matches running way long
(Haze/Rain was the only match that was under 10 minutes), however I
greatly dispute anyone who says this was not an overall good show.
Thumbs way up.
