The Rap Sheet - from the Crimefighter
Next Generation Wrestling

Since WHEN are paying fans required to practice kayfabe?
The rap sheet is archived at the Rap Sheet Dossier at
http://rap-sheet.tripod.com and can be read in various locations on the
internet that I send it to, which includes
news:rec.sport.pro-wrestling.info a newsgroup that wrestling companies
could use to promote their shows but don't. The views expressed by
Crimefighter are solely his own, and do not necessarily reflect the
views of friends, associates, co-workers, organizations, whichever
website you're reading this report on, or any of the six billion people
on planet Earth.
It's been a long time since I have been able to get up to Peoria to
watch an NGW show, and this is the first time I was able to get up
there to view a show in their regular building. Getting there is
rather difficult, as the interstate through Peoria is completely tore
up and numerous exit ramps are being completely rebuilt. So you
have to pay attention to the message signs that tell you which exit to
get off on to go to the street you were driving to. After you get
off the highway and into the city streets, you have to watch carefully
cause if you drive by the place you might miss it. I found this
Peoria Athlete Club finally and went in. I could not believe how
small this place was. The ring is in the back of the room, the
walls are like one or two feet from the ring. The total number of
chairs set up was 70, and were in rows of five seats each on both sides
of the room. Total attendance for this show was a rather low
43. These guys run weekly shows, and this apparently has been
within the average attendance numbers.
Live from the Peoria Athletic Club. Your PA commentary team is
Scooter and Mr. NGW. Yeah there's PA commentary again, I'll just
ignore it for the most part.
Before the first match even gets started, Dennis Devine, the former
drunkard Mike Casteen now known as Mike Fine, and Klepto Magnifico come
out to the ring. Devine says he's not Phoenix's opponents
tonight. Devine does his best Stuart Smalley imitation showing
off his rehab work on Fine and Klepto. Devine has Klepto return
some chain straps he apparently stole from Ryan. I have no idea
what that was about.
Ryan Phoenix vs. Alto the Great w/ The Great Cheyenne - I mistakenly
thought Alto was someone else on the roster with a mask cause he
looked like The Great Malenko but that wasn't the case. Lockup,
armbar Alto, reversals, waistlock Alto, takedown gets two. Snap
mare blocked, armdrags Ryan, spinning heel kick and Alto bails.
Cheyenne is repeatedly shouting SHUT UP. Sheesh, why is she so
cranky tonight? Alto back in, whip reverse hip toss, armdrag,
clothesline, drop kick Phoenix. Alto bails again, Phoenix
follows, Alto gets a drop kick on the way back in. Cheyenne hops
on the apron to whine. Whip INVERTED flying headscissors Alto
gets two. Rear headlock, hair yank Alto. Wheelbarrow
attempt is turned into a backbreaker by Phoenix. Whip inverted
wheelbarrow is reversed into an X-factor by Ryan. Guillotine
legdrop on the ropes by Alto, neckbreaker on the middle rope gets
two. Whip drop kick to the back by Alto, springboard neckbreaker
gets two. Camel clutch Alto, but lets it go. Whip reverse
Alto with a flip over, enzuigiri Phoenix. Whip drop kick twice by
Ryan, whip reverse into powerbomb. Ryan does a crossarm
backbreaker for two. Whip reversals double crossbodies.
Ouch. They both get up and each of them go for double springboard
clotheslines. They beat the count up, atomic drop by Ryan, Alto
is put on the top rope, Alto gets a tornado DDT for two. Alto
goes up, Kyle Rich runs out from the back and superkicks Alto off for
something that happened one or two weeks ago. Ryan Phoenix with
the Styles Clash wins it!
WINNER: Ryan Phoenix pin -> 11:40 mins. ***½
Great match to open, some sloppiness in there but I'll let it
slide. A fan tells me I'm brave for writing a review of Ace of
Spades, cute.
Tank Thurman comes out to gripe. He's back and he's pissed.
He's mad Perfect 10 has a title shot next week, he's got a surprise for
them this week. He takes off.
Johnny Justice & Tristian Hayze vs. Gilbert Lewis & Scotty
Keyes - Oh geez, not the nerd! Lewis is rolling on the floor
laughing. The heels jump them from behind, double team,
superkick, dropkick on the bad guys. They bail, Justice and Hayze
back in and stomp on Lewis. Justice pounds away, tag Hayze whip
hip toss. Hayze Boston Crab, Justice Camel Clutch combo.
"He dropped the soap" chant. Drop kick to the face, knee to the
gut and teases a tag for Keyes. Hayze puts him on the bottom
rope, charges and sits on him. Choke by Justice, Lewis escapes
and tags Keyes. Keyes kicks away, uppercut, chops, Hayze flips
him around and chops harder! Keyes fires back, tag Lewis, they
pound away in the corner. Tag Keyes, spinkick to the face, Keyes'
chest is all red. Keyes makes a wish, double legdrop. Hayze
charges gets yanked into the middle turnbuckle, Hayze yanks Keyes into
the post. Hayze gets a suplex, tag Justice. Hayze pulls the
arm up for the kick, Justice kicks away, does a piggyback armbar.
Off the ropes, ref almost gets run over, spinning flatliner by
Justice. Justice whip into his corner, tag Hayze, he pounds away,
Justice tag, he pounds away, tag Hayze, whip hammerlock with the leg
into a pin combo for two. He knocks Lewis off into the wall,
Justice chokes with the tag rope, tag. Hayze holds Keyes up for
Justice to jump him and sit on Keyes...but messes up the set
down. Keyes gets a jawbreaker, Hayze cuts of the tag and slaps
Lewis. Hayze with a modified ab stretch. Keyes picks him up
for a Samoan drop. Justice illegal switch, double flatliner,
Lewis ties up the ref, Hayze gets two. Knee drop to the head by
Hayze, Hayze goes up, twisting moonsault missed. Both men in the
wrong corners, Hayze tries to kick, Keyes with a kick to the
face. Both men tag, clothesline on Justice, whip back body drop
on Hayze, whip on Justice elbow. LOW BLOW and POKE by the
heels. Lewis by his corner and doesn't tag, Hayze in illegally,
choke, slaps Keyes in the back. Keyes yanks down the rope and
Hayze flies over. Lewis gets a hammerlock rollup on Justice for
the pin!
WINNERS: Gilbert Lewis & Scotty Keyes pin -> 10:20 mins. ***¼
Keyes pulls Hayze out, Justice shoves down the ref and throws a temper tantrum. Sore losers.
Shane Griffin comes out for an interview. He says if gave a crap
of what two guys think they'd be on the other end of this. Last
week he debated Chris Hazard in the ring, but he got MC Trip C
instead. MC Trip C hit him with a chair and he wants him out
here. Chris Hazard comes out instead. Hazard says for all
his five minute challenges he can't roll over in five minutes.
Hazard says Shane should be glad that it wasn't him chairshotting him
last week cause he'd knock his head off. Hazard says he's a
changed man, he wants him the old fashioned way and he can bring his
chair or whatever he wants. Shane accepts, though I thought it
was a hardcore stip with the chair involved. Some fan keeps
popping for the announcements of time limits.
The Great Malenko w/ Cheyenne vs. Apocolpyse w/ Dr. Jacob Walker - Well
Apoc has ditched the biker gear for facepaint. Cheyenne is still
very cranky, maybe she just needs a hug. Malenko slugs away but
has no effect. Armbar, waistlock, chop does nothing. Whip
three clotheslines by Apoc, spinebuster. Cheyenne on the apron
and does the illegal neck yank on the rope. Chip by Malenko, he
works on the leg, figure four. Apoc powers out and shoves Malenko
out with his boot. Apoc with a choke shove over the top
rope! Apoc grabs Cheyenne and Malenko with choke holds, but he
rams Apoc into the post. Malenko goes up, Apoc slams him off,
then gorilla press slams Malenko onto Cheyenne on the floor!
Okay, that's just wrong. Malenko with the neck yank on the rope,
DDT, elbows. Apoc acts like Undertaker and sits up, whip
clothesline. Cheyenne jumps up again, man she don't learn.
Malenko gets thrown into Cheyenne, but gets a LOW BLOW on Apoc.
Edgeucution by Malenko, hits a second rope moonsault. Apoc no
sells it and chokeslams him. Pumphandle slam follows and Apoc
wins it.
WINNER: Apocolpyse pin -> 7:50 mins. **½
Women's Match 2/3 Falls
Super J vs. Sensational Sascha - Your referee is MC Trip C.
Sascha complaining about cheering for a loser, how? Match hasn't
started! First fall: Super J attacks from behind, whip
clothesline J. They trade slaps, chops, Sascha with a hard
chop. Snap mare, drop kick Sascha. J whip clothesline, snap
mare, J up to the second rope, Sascha yanks her down. Sascha with
a choke, forearm shots, whip a very LOW hip toss, Sascha stomps away,
then pins J with her feet on the ropes to go (1-0) at 3 minutes.
Second fall: Shoulderblock J, whip to the corner, shoulderblock
to the back of Sascha. Whip shoulderblock Sascha dodges but J
hits a bit of her side, Sascha goes up and hits a crossbody for
two. Stretch chokehold Sascha. Super J hits a suplex for
two. J knee, DDT gets one but she pulls her up! DDT J
again, she goes up, Sascha tries to throw her off but J hits a sloppy
tornado DDT for the pin at 6:35 minutes to tie it at (1-1).
Third fall: Sascha attacks, J yanks the leg. Lockup,
armwringer J. Face slam J, sloppy running bulldog gets two.
Sascha kicks J outside, Sascha fetches a chair, MC wrestles it away in
the corner, J charges and splashes into the chair, MC Trip C and Sascha
that looked all messed up. And it didn't look like it could knock
a ref out, especially an active wrestler. "Soon To Be" Justin
MacIntyre runs out and clotheslines J. You don't go beating up
girls! J recovers and hits a snap mare, gets a butterfly armbar,
Sascha stands up with it but gets downed by a running butterfly bulldog
(or maybe a running Unprettier?) for the win. Sloppy match.
WINNER: Super J (2-1) pin, pin -> 10:30 mins. *½
MacIntyre runs back out and attacks J some more. MC Trip C shoves
him off, ROCK BOTTOM MacIntyre. MacIntyre holds J up for Sascha
to beat on before two more refs break it up. Super J grabs the
mike and chews out MC Trip C for trying to help people but only gets
people hurt in the process. HUH? We go to intermission.

rope, crotches him. Brutal snap mares Michaels off the top rope,
Ray flying hurraconranna on Brutal and pins him. Cramming spots
within five minutes.
WINNER and STILL CHAMP: Ray the Wrestler pin -> 4:40 mins. **½
Klepto, Fine and Devine come back out. The commentary team call
this the "Devine Intervention" segment. Someone shouts they need
one more for the Teletubbies. Devine talks about tricks, and who
didn't enjoy the bXXXX slap contest and he's nobody's bXXXX. He's
tired of Team Greatness and had been through a lot with Cheyenne.
Devine has a table brought in, someone shouts it's a "good
housekeeping" match. Cheyenne and Team Greatness come out, all
banged up from earlier. Klepto steals their hat. Devine
wants Cheyenne to sit down for an arm wrestling match. Okay the
way Devine is acting I can see why Cheyenne ain't attracted to
him. Devine brings out a referee, and it's pNut. I shout to
spit in their hand. Other members of the crowd shout crude
comments. The arm wrestling begins, Devine gets an early lead but
Cheyenne powers his arm down for the win. Devine yanks his arm
out and flips the table on her before fleeing the ring with his
posse. Gee what a wuss. Team Greatness go after pNut,
Cheyenne grabs pNut for the side slam, legdrop. Kody Kash runs
out to help pNut, Team Greatness turns to beat up Kash. Devine
and Fine sneak back out and yanks Team Greatness off the apron.
Cheyenne grabs Devine and beats the crap outta him before the referees
try pulling them apart. Michaels accidentally nails his own
partner in the melee. Kody Kash fights Michaels to the back.
Kody Kash vs. "Student of the Game" Russ Staley...err..Stevens -
Apparently Russ did something last week to set up this match. Hey
where is Russ? The ref announces that Russ ain't in the building
and starts counting. A woman shouts "He's in labor!"
Another person shouts he probably had to work tonight. "He's in
labor" chant. I shout "maybe he's in the Quad Cities
wrestling!" Ref gets to ten and it's a forfeit. "It's a
boy! He had triplets!" Guess Russ didn't want to show his
face after last week's incident. We will revisit this match at
the end of the rap sheet.
WINNER: Kody Kash forfeit -> N/A
"Ace of Spades" Shane Griffin vs. Chris Hazard - I thought this was a
hardcore match from the interview earlier but I was incorrect.
Lockup Shane forearm shot. Lockup corner, weak chop by
Shane. Lockup Hazard slugs away, shoulderblocks. Whip
attempt is blocked, Hazard gets whipped to the corner and
crashes. Shane with a poke, suplex, one foot cover gets
one. Chop in the corner, snap mare Shane. Hazard with a
flying shoulderblock, elbow off the second rope gets two. Hazard
whip shortarm clothesline Shane. Griffin with weak punches in the
corner, whip crash goes Hazard. Shane splash in the corner,
Hazard spear attempt misses and he hits the floor. Shane goes
out, apron ram by Hazard. Head slam into the announcers table by
Hazard, Hazard takes the table made of metal despite the protests of
Scooter. Shane with a pair of head slams, but the ref gets to ten
and we got a lousy double countout. BAH!
NO WINNER: Double countout -> 5:10 mins. *
Scooter screams at the two guys that it's his table and if they want
the table so bad they're having a table match next week if they don't
like it they can hit the door. Hazard and Griffin start fighting
some more, Shane gets the ring bell and conks Hazard in the head.
Scooter orders both men to hit the showers. This was all about
setting up next week's table match, nothing more.
Tank Thurman comes out to introduce the opposition for Perfect
10. Stickrod and HIMSELF? Oh geez, we're gonna have a
-***** match now!
Denver Todd Stickrod & Tank Thurman vs. Perfect 10 - Big Pappa
& "Little Pappa" Kyle Rich - Thurman is gonna wrestle in street
clothes. Rich and DTS start. Lockup, armbar Rich,
hammerlock, shoulderblock, enzuigiri. Kyle whip hip toss and
rides it down for two. Tag Pappa, KO punch, whip
clothesline, big elbow gets two. Pappa whip big bubba slam gets
two. Tag Rich, chop, side kick gets two. Armbar superkick
Rich gets two. Tag Pappa, he chops DTS, whip clothesline misses,
DTS with a clip! DTS elbows to the gut, he goes up, flying
headbutt to the shoulder (called Stick the Rod). Tank wants in,
DTS begrudgingly tags him in. Pappa is up and goes after Tank,
whip big splash! Another one, tag Rich, full nelson, Kyle on top,
big chop. Rich scissor kick on Tank gets two. Illegal
switch, DTS pounds away, snap suplex gets two. DTS slugs away in
the corner, whip flying splash gets two. DTS whip spinebuster,
Tank wants in again, so he's tagged. Tank just covers and gets
two. Tank whip clothesline. Tank whip reverse tornado DDT
Rich gets two. DTS breaks it up with another illegal
switch. Belly to belly suplex variation DTS gets two. DTS
whip flying clothesline, ROCK BOTTOM! Tank wants in again, DTS is
losing patience. Kyle nails him in the back of the head with a
kick, Pappa in, flapjack/neckbreaker combo finishes off Tank for the
pin.
WINNERS: Big Pappa & Little Pappa Kyle Rich pin -> 7:45 mins. **¾
Ah the match turned out quite good, Perfect 10 go for the titles next
week. Show is complete, Scooter and Mr. NGW say goodbye.
The Verdict: A better show than Ace of Spades was by a big margin
but before I could go telling anyone about it I got an unpleasant
surprise. I got a scolding from one wrestler after the show was
over telling me I "ruined the angle" that was Kash vs. Stevens. Not
so. A no-show is a no-show, there may be valid excuses to no-show
and there's invalid excuses. Choosing to skip out on a match in
Peoria to wrestle in the Quad Cities instead would be one of those
invalid reasons a heel would use to avoid an certain
opponent. How that "ruined an angle" beats the heck out of me
unless NGW's fans know absolutely nothing about wrestling outside of
the city limits. There's more than just me out there that follows
wrestling in the Midwest, and there's probably a few people that have
gone to Peoria and the Quad to watch shows. And what difference
does it make if he fled town or hid under his bed at his house? A
bunch of other stuff was said about committing this "no-no" and I'm
being held to a standard I have not set for myself to be more
responsible cause I'm not a typical fan and write columns.
Because of that incident, this may be the last NGW show I review live
cause I will not accept being chewed out like that. I say more
about it in the Rap Sheet Blog at http://www.livejournal.com/~rap_sheet
Overall show, much better than Ace of Spades, enjoyment ruined by that dumb incident.
Thumbs up.
