The Rap Sheet - from the Crimefighter
New Midwest Wrestling's Monday Warfare
2/16/2K4 - Springfield, IL

Never fear, the Crimefighter's here to let you know how it all went down...

As some people may know, the "Toughman" competitions which is a form of amateur boxing that are put on all across the country in various venues and Fox Sports Net have been under assault ever since a young woman died from head injuries following such a bout down in Florida. Our Governor, Rod Blagojevich, through the IL Dept. of Professional Regulation shut down Extreme Fight Night Boxing held locally at Club 217 along with every other event in the state of Illinois, targeting a major event that was supposed to take place in northern Illinois. Meanwhile, nothing has been done about allowing 12 year olds to wrestle matches for a pro wrestling company. That's probably why Hot Rod is going to be a one-termer. Well there's a bunch of other reasons too, smirk. The club owner wanted a replacement for the boxing events, so what does he turn to? Pro wrestling! And he wanted them in there RIGHT AWAY, even if there isn't time to properly promote the event and pack the building. So you can figure out how the attendance level for the first event there was, there wasn't much attendance. And that's a shame. Hampering things further is the fact that the old webhost for NMW went out of business without warning and left the webmasters scrambling for a new host and to re-secure possession of the domain name. Because I'm such a NMW fan, I'm keeping up with the activities so I knew about this event and made plans to attend and tape RAW in the meantime. Which there's another problem, it's up against RAW. But they got the club owner to switch the weekly show to Tuesdays starting in March. Another problem is there's an age minimum, you have to be 21 and over. 18, 19, 20 year olds even with parent can't get in cause it's a school night...even though most of them are out of high school and some wrestlers are under 21. Hmmm...yeah. So since I'm here to watch here's what many did not get to see.

At Club 217 the ring is at one side with the video wall behind it on the stage. The ceiling beams prevent any top rope moves however. The wrestling actually started about 8:30pm, and the final match ended about 11:15pm. We have a really nice video to open up the show, which is about what you'd see for an older RAW or Smackdown show. Your ring announcer is Prof. Philip H. Dempsey? Yep, Jimmy Osbourne isn't here so he's announcing tonight, but he's having problems with the sound system as Devall and LPC are working the boards. Devall argues with PHD over that, PHD says HE put all this **** together tonight. LPC tells Devall to turn his mike on. We keep getting squeals with the sound, PHD calls Devall on the carpet for crappy production values, Devall says he had to do this at the last minute. The CD player wasn't working very well tonight though as music skipped for several guys.

"The UNDERachiever" Billy Morgan (6-6) 5'10" 172lbs. Riverton, IL w/ Kev G vs. Tricky Dick Moore (1-1) 5'10" 180lbs. Beaverdale, PA - Unfortunately for Billy, only Kev G will be with him at ringside for a long while, cause JJ Tank broke his foot in a freak accident while training doing the running of the ropes and drop down drills. Ricky is the referee. Morgan is fresh off his title loss. Lockup to the corner, clean break, lock again, headlock takedown Dick, scissor by Morgan. Lockup, Morgan headlock takedown, scissor, headlock Moore. Morgan shoveoff shoulderblock, hip toss Moore. Morgan goes out, Dick chases, fight outside, toss in, backbreaker Morgan gets two. Chops by Morgan, then pulls on Moore's chest hair, Moore flips him around and chops him hard. Whip splash by Moore gets two. Morgan with a rake, then throws Moore out. Kev G gets into a fight with Moore, and LOSES. Bill throws Dick back in, Irish whip superkick Billy gets two. Choke by Bill, then puts him on the top rope, Moore knocks him off, Billy gets a monkey flip into the corner, then rolls him up with his feet on the ropes and pins him. We thought Moore kicked out of it but the ref says it's three. Eh? Crap. These guys face off again at Reconking by the way.

WINNER: "The Overachiever" Billy Morgan pin -> 6:30 mins. *

The Freshman (0-1) 120lbs. Carbondale, IL vs. "The Crazy Chicken" El Pollo Loco (0-4-0-1) 5'9" 140lbs. Hatchling, AL - The Freshman is Matt Boston, whom I'm to now supposed to just refer to him as The Freshman only cause there's the belief that they'll look for him where he works. That's if we KNEW where he worked in the first place, and it's way too late for anonymity now. Besides, he's got his name printed on the back of his jersey! And he goes and tells me where he works...hmmm hmmm. No Erica, Tabby, Ali, I ain't telling you where he works! *smirk* Okay, I made that part up. Anyway, I've been asking for this match for months, these are the two smallest guys on the roster and they added this tonight. It's the bantamweight versus the welterweight. Devall quips that EPL's music was the last thing they thought they'd hear at Club 217. Headlock Matt, EPL tries to shove him off but almost gets bulldogged down as Matt holds on. Lockup, waistlock Matt, EPL with an armwringer into a hammerlock, takedown Matt, and there's a break. Lockup, whip flying clothesline EPL, stomps away, EPL whip Matt crashes in the corner. EPL with a flying baseball slide drop kick sending Matt outside. EPL brawls with the Freshman on the floor, EPL whips Matt to the post, Matt blasts EPL against the stairs then rams him into the apron. Matt rolls EPL in, EPL with a rake, suplex, DDT gets two. EPL whip reversed clothesline Matt gets one. Shoulderblocks in the corner by Matt, whip EPL flies off the second rope gets two. Matt with a small package gets two. Matt slugs away with the ten-punch count in the corner, EPL collapses and Matt gets two out of it. Whip double clothesline and both guys are down. EPL gets a side suplex, then hits a "mini-Vader" bomb for two. The chicken with a whip, Matt gets the wheelbarrow bulldog and that's enough for the pin.

WINNER: "The Freshman" pin -> (1-1) 7:40 mins. **

This was an okay match, I'd like to see it again where the ceiling isn't in the way. That was El Pollo Loco's best chance for the first victory but it ended up being his fifth straight loss and still ranks dead last in the standings. Devall tells PHD not to walk near the speakers with a live mike. Someone in the room keeps telling me to shut up every time I shout something.

The anonymous cult member has NOW been identified as "The Apostle Jakob" (0-1) 5'11" 252lbs. Kincaid, IL vs. El Diablo Silverado (10-8) 5'8" 173lbs. Beardstown, IL - Hey hey, RON is nowhere to be seen! What a blessing that is, I get a night off from him. Jakob hasn't wrestled a singles bout since the Alexis Homeier Memorial Tourney. Jakob is wearing a white shirt instead of his usual black. Lockup shove by Jakob, does it again. Slam, dropkick out by EDS, dive on Jakob from the apron. EDS slams Jakob's head on the bar table, but Jakob whips EDS into the post. Slam Jakob gets two. Choke by Jakob, rollup EDS gets two. Jakob pounds away in the corner, whip clothesline, choke in the corner. Hard whip to the corner sees EDS crashing down to the mat and Jakob gets two. Another whip Jakob misses the clothesline, EDS with a spring back elbow off the second rope that connects low, Juvy Driver then a legdrop off the second rope finishes it. Those darn ceiling beams...and a bit short.

WINNER: El Diablo Silverado pin -> 5:15 mins. **¼

Don't call me "The Khaos Kidd" no more Steven Bishop (2-7) 5'7" 200lbs. Kincaid, IL vs. "E-Lo" Eric Logan (7-5) 5'10" 173lbs. Palm Springs, FL (8-7) - Hardcore KC came up with the "E-Lo" nickname which is an obvious takeoff on "J-Lo". Tradeoff of hammerlocks, Bishop rollup for two. Waistlock Logan, they trip each other, waistlock takedown E-Lo. Headlock Bishop, running of the ropes, drop toe hold by E-Lo. Whip hip toss Logan, armdrag, slam gets two. Whip clothesline Logan gets two. Kicks away, whip reversed E-Lo flips into the corner and ties himself into the tree of woe. Bishop with a running drop kick in the corner. Logan is freed and slugs away on Bishop, suplex gets two. An armbar submission hold is locked in which I don't know the name of and can't describe it by Bishop, but E-Lo makes the ropes. Hammerlock by Kidd but E-Lo makes the ropes again, Kidd chops away, whip hip toss into a neckbreaker by Bishop gets two. Kidd whip Logan hits a pair of Northern Lights suplexes for two. Whip reversed shortarm clothesline by Bishop, legdrop on the arm, he locks that submission hold again, which has an armbar, then one foot hooked behind Logan's head facing each other. E-Lo won't give up and the foot slips out, so Bishop does the spinning facebreaker on his knee. Suplex E-Lo, whip double clothesline and they're down. Both up at seven, they jockey for position but Logan gets Bishop in a piledriver and wins it!

WINNER: "E-Lo" Eric Logan pin -> (9-7) 7:40 mins. ***

Mississippi Madman Don Jackson (debut) 6'2" 400lbs. Olive Branch, MS vs. "Designated NWF Heavyweight Champ" Sage Ramsey (5-6) 6'4" 268lbs. Peoria, IL - If NWF doesn't get its act together they may have to find someone else to be their champ as they cancelled their show AGAIN. BTW, their website's been replaced with "Coming soon: The new face of sports entertainment". Gee I can hardly wait. They screwed up Madman's music! PHD argues with Devall some more over it, Devall suggests he perform a strip tease for the people while he's fixing it. PHD declines. Madman is looking angry again tonight and chases Ricky the ref around. PHD calls Ramsey a piece of **** and Madman's next meal. Jackson is screaming and growling a lot. I shout "Hey Madman you got what you want you shouldn't be mad!" He shouts back "Shut the hell up punk! This is MY house!" Cute. Faceoff, Sage slugs away but Jackson floors him with ONE punch. Sage tries it again, but Don floors him again. Jackson with a clothesline, big splash misses, someone shouts at me to shut up for warning Sage about the move (someone kept doing that all night, wonder who it was???), Sage slugs away some more, whip side slam Jackson. Madman with the choke, then a nerve hold. Sage elbows out, clothesline is no good, second is no good, third try gets Sage floored again by Jackson. Running elbow, choke by Jackson, BIG SPLASH, but it only gets two! Nerve hold by Jackson, Sage goes out, come back after the arm is raised twice. Sage elbows out, slugs away, kicks at his leg, stomps him in the back, then puts on a front face lock. Jackson with a bearhug, Sage gets out, but gets caught in it again. Spinebuster Jackson gets two. Sage tries slugging and kicking away again, then does the CLIP. Jackson's leg gets twisted around as a result and he's lucky that leg wasn't hurt badly. Cover gets two. Rear chinlock Sage, running elbow gets two. Sage pounds him, roundhouse right, whip BIG BOOT then clothesline gets two. Jackson with a Samoan Drop gets two. Jackson stomps away, turnbuckle smash, chops, choke, whip charge misses in the corner. Sage waits on him, superkick, then foolishly tries to slam him. Jackson slams Sage instead, Madman signals something, Sage with a rake and DDT gets two. He then tries for a chokeslam but Jackson blocks it and hits the double chokeslam Baldo Bomb and score the upset victory! Oh boy, setback for Sage here. Jackson's debut was most impressive.

WINNER: The Mississippi Madman Don Jackson pin -> (1-0) 11:45 mins. **½

PT Starbody comes out to referee the last two bouts. PHD is happy to see Sage Ramsey get beat up. PHD notes that Jimmy Osbourne has arrived then talks about the sponsor and upcoming events at the Club.

These men used to team as "Dangerous Investment" before Guy Smith decided to break the team up after the team suffered only it's second defeat. NO WINNER: Double Countout -> 6:15 mins. *½

PHD shills the next show, which he says it's March 28th and forgets what month it is. He doesn't care, he's drunk anyway. A new ref is out here, PHD starts chatting with him to kill time while they fix the sound system. Guy Smith comes out with Cherry Malone and wants the ring to himself and asks PHD to go. Smith says he's gone through a couple valets. Devall says a couple? Smith tells LPC to give him a stunner if he mouths off again. Smith turns to Cherry Malone and says what a fine girl she is with him instead of that trash Billy Morgan. He asks for an opponent so he can defeat him like everyone else. Devall calls for the short guy to come out, and it's Hardcore KC. This is his scheduled opponent.

KC slugs away, puts Guy on top but gets shoved away, we shout "watch your head!" but Guy leaps off and smacks his head against the ceiling beam!!! KC gets up laughing at him, then drops an axe then an elbow for two. KC slugs away, whip twisting belly to belly suplex gets two. Sunset flip KC, monkey flip, crossbody KC, but Smith floats over for two. Enzuigiri KC, Cherry Malone hops on the apron, Smith nails KC in the back then hits Little Inspiration and wins it. WINNER: Sage Ramsey pin -> (7-7) 53 mins. ****

I don't want to rate battle royals, but I'll give this four stars for the whole thing including the singles bout that emerged at the end. For the record, Sage Ramsey stayed in the longest at 48 minutes. The crowd won't make noise for the winner is quiet for some reason, fatigue I guess, I'm certainly tired myself after that marathon of a battle, PHD says he's the winner using the word unfortunately. Nice. I have to shout for them to hit his music. Tom Arson asks who's he gonna be facing in March, I say SOMEBODY, the winner of the four way! Arson says it will be against him. Sage looks and points at Arson that the title is his. Guy Smith apparently suffered a neck injury as PHD is calling for EMTs to the back. Dredd Walker who wasn't at the show informs me that he may not make the Final Reconking II event. PHD wishes us good night and plugs the upcoming shows, and I'm outta here, I gotta go to work tomorrow! Lucky me, I get up at 7:30pm to go to work, a bunch of wrestlers have to get up at FIVE A.M. tomorrow! And it's 11:30pm! Yeek!

Monday Warfare will go on again next week, with Final Reconking II to follow on Saturday, then another Monday Warfare just two days later before it switches over to Tuesdays. Easy thumbs up for the show overall, just wish more people would have been able to see it. If they get this thing on videotape and sell it the next show...BUY IT. I don't know if I will write up a rap sheet for the next Monday show, since this takes two days to write at a time, kind of a toss up right now. I will be writing a sheet for Final Reconking II when it goes down. Until next time, this is the Crimefighter saying Bustin' Ain't Easy!
