NMW on a Friday...
It was decided that NMW would be doing a second show each month, on a
Friday night at a reduced ticket price, and to build up the major
show. So tonight we have a minor setup as opposed to the full
setup they usually do. Also the lineup isn't as strong, with
matchups that are kinda random. Attendance was about 70-80 this
evening.
Man vs. Woman
Tricky Dick Moore (9-10-0-1) 185lbs. Beaverdale, PA w/ Jackie
Sazerak vs. Rian Cruz (2-2-0-1) 119lbs. Springfield, IL - When Rian
Cruz had her first official ring action, it was against Tricky Dick
Moore, at a time when he was managed by PM Sanders...who incidently was
banned from ever holding a microphone in NMW ever again for the heel
promo he cut against her. Course, he's now one of the top heels
across town in another fed, which kinda shows how much NMW lost when
they dumped him. Lockup, Rian is shoved to the corner. Rian
flips him around and hits some shoulders to the gut, monkey flip, drop
kick. Jackie jumps on the apron already, Tricky has her by the
hair and side slams her for two. Suplex Tricky gets two.
Choke on the rope by Tricky, and Jackie joins in. Sheesh, that's
no way to treat a lady! Tricky with a side slam into a rock
bottom for two. Rian comes up with a flying headscissors,
clothesline, step over DDT for two. Rian throws the forearms, but
Tricky pokes her, clothesline, elbows get two. Neckbreaker
attempt is blocked, stunner attempt is blocked, Tricky hits a spinning
neckbreaker for three! Girl power wasn't enough tonight.
Always hate it to see the lady get beat.
WINNER: Tricky Dick Moore pin -> (10-10-0-1) 5:45 mins. *½
Hardcore KC 170lbs. Kansas City, MO vs. "Overachiever" Billy Morgan
170lbs. Riverton, IL w/ PHD - Only thing I'd ever vote PHD for is class
clown. This is an extention of the old Maximum Impact vs. Dean's
List feud. And look, Matt Boston and Twist are on the stage
watching. KC slaps Morgan, Morgan fires a knee, turnbuckle ram
attempt blocked. KC rams Morgan in all four corners. Side
kick KC gets two. Slam, legdrop KC gets two. Morgan side
steps a charge, KC is rammed into the post, shoulderbreaker by Morgan
gets two. KC eats a boot, tornado DDT Morgan gets two.
Morgan with a wristlock, and spinebuster for two. Morgan whip to
the corner, KC dodges, foot is caught, KC clothesline in the corner,
bulldog gets two. KC goes up, Morgan trips him, hurraconranna
attempt is blocked and KC has an ankle lock! Sage Ramsey, Matt
Boston, Twist on the apron! KC knocks Sage off, Twist off and
Boston throws powder in KC's face! Ref ignores the powder cloud,
rollup Morgan, one shoulder is way off the ground but the ref counts
three anyway! Bah, after a couple steps forward he takes more
steps back cause of cheaters. I think KC's lost more matches by
people interfering than getting cleanly beat.
WINNER: "Overachiever" Billy Morgan pin -> 8:10 mins. **¼
Boston and Twist kick KC and the ref just stands there not even attempt
to break it up. Boston stomps KC in the corner as Shane Matthews
runs down to break it up. About time! Shane scolds Boston
for cowardice. And challenges Boston to a match on the
spot. Boston will accept only if the title is on the line.
Twist sneaks in and takes KC and Shane out with a clothesline.
MOAV says Twist sucks, as he brawls with KC up the aisle.
NMW Heavyweight Championship
(c)"The Marvel" Shane Matthews 215lbs Atlantic City, NJ vs. "The
Man" Matt Boston 130lbs. Carbondale, IL w/ Twist - Well I didn't expect
THIS match, Boston is no where in contention. But heck, Boston
had been feuding with KC for so long. I'm surprised Shane is
wrestling tonight, considering the nasty cut that required staples to
close the last time he wrestled I thought he would take some time to
recover. But that's Shane for ya. Boston pounds away,
clothesline Shane. Shane back body drop and the CHILD takes a
powder. And Twist comes back out, I would had thought KC had got
rid of him. How's your head Shane? Ricky the ref comes
out. Shane throws Boston in, Shane gets tripped into the bottom
turnbuckle and Boston kicks away. Whip reverse Marvel hits the
splash in the corner, slam, elbow gets two but the shoulder wasn't even
down! Sheesh, Nick the Ref is rather new but this is
ridicious. Shane with a powerslam gets two. KO punch as
MOAV wonders why Ricky's out here. Shane eats a boot and gets
clotheslined hard by Boston. Boston side suplex and it only gets
two. Boston hops Shane in the corner, rollup gets two. He
tries a sleeper, Boston has a hand on that previous cut on the head,
wonder if that's gonna open up again. Shane tries something but
Boston falls on him for two. And Twist is up on the apron, trying
to interfere and Shane knocks him off. Boston manages a
wheelbarrow bulldog for two. Can't believe it. Boston slugs
away, Shane whip, pickup, tilt-a-while DDT by Boston gets two!
Dunno how much Shane has left, Acid Drop attempt by Boston is blocked,
Boston in the tree of woe, Twist is interfering again in front of the
ref, ref does nothing, Marvel BOOTS him off. Angle slam off the
top rope by Shane and pins him! Nick needs more ref
training. Twist back in, Shane BOOTS his big rear outta HIS ring.
WINNER and STILL CHAMP: "The Marvel" Shane Matthews pin -> 7:55 mins. **½
Time for a rare interview segment. Stan Sallinger in the
"Hollywood Square" with Stephani King. Ain't the game show.
MOAV says don't react or they'll do another one on another show.
HAHA! He admits losing to Doug Fraze then intros himself and the
cameragal. He then introduces Eric Logan as HIS guest.
Stan's thrilled E-Lo is his first guest. We can't hear Logan
talk. He gets around to asking about LPC. Logan says LPC is
the most useless member of 4GQ. Stan recalls the time when he was
the tag partner with E-Lo and their big win over the original Sigma
Omega Beta of Garret Ryan and Toga Steve. They get into a Bugs
Bunny/Daffy Duck bit of who won the match with what move, spinebuster
or neckbreaker. MOAV says the crowd is now dead. LPC sneaks
in from the aisle, we're yelling at him and Logan acts deaf. LPC
clobbers him and tries to drop him face first on a chair. Side
slam and we see J-Mac watching from afar. KICK WHAM STUNNER LPC
and Stan with the swinging full nelson. Stan and LPC pound away,
J-Mac's still watching this from way far away. Now he starts
walking. Logan ducks away from a blow, J-Mac in and goes after
Sallinger. He points at Stephani to get out. Logan and
J-Mac clothesline both 4GQ guys out. And J-Mac wants the
mike. J-Mac says E-Lo can be a good boy or be bad against
LPC. He asks the crowd if he should be a good boy...NO...should
he be a bad boy...HECK YEAH! J-Mac on the 5th says he can either
be a good boy or he can beat his arse.
Tank Roberts (0-2) 250lbs. Fort Worth, TX vs. Benz (3-3-0-1) 250lbs.
"Yo Mammas House" w/ Jackie Sazerak - Pretty random match here.
Tank Roberts is a mainstay of Scott County Wrestling. Lockup,
headlock Benz, shoot off, hip toss Tank and Benz bails out. He
comes back in and charges, but eats a Tank BOOT. Slam, splash
Tank gets two. Suplex Tank gets two. Poke from Benz,
dumpout, Tank gets into an arguement with Jackie, Benz off the apron
with a neckbreaker, he throws Tank into the post, and slams him on the
apron. Benz puts him in, slam and a one foot cover gets
two. Not smart. Whip splash in the corner by Benz, second
rope elbow gets two. Side slam Benz gets two, backslide Tank gets
two. Edgecution Benz gets two. Benz sets something up with
Jackie, Irish whip, Jackie backturned trips....BENZ.
Whoops. Thunder driver into a powerslam by Tank gets the pin and
Jackie has a look of shock on his face.
WINNER: Tank Roberts pin -> (1-2) 8 mins. **½
Central IL Championship
(c)Michael Shard 165lbs. Santa Monica, CA vs. NMW Tag Champ/RCW
Heavyweight Champ Sage Ramsey 250lbs. Peoria, IL w/ PHD & Billy
Morgan - The last time these two squared off in a match was back at
First Blood 2002. And PHD was managing the other guy.
Concerning the tag titles, the belts are STILL idling at 100 days and
counting. What's up with THAT? And I wonder why EZ Money
hasn't been put in a tag title match yet. Peek at the clock, it's
only 8pm and it's main event time already? Slugfest to start and
Shard goes for the flatliner but Sage bails. Back in the ring,
whip to the corner, but Sage eats Shard's boot. Drop kick from
the second rope by Shard gets two. Shard with a ten punch count
in the corner, goes to the top, crossbody attempt is caught. Sage rams
him in the corner, slam, splash gets two. Sage with the gut
buster, and Billy Morgan beats on Shard on the floor. He throws
him in, Sage gets two. Clothesline Sage, snap mare, rear
chinlock. Shard up, escapes and charges but gets tossed
outside. Sage drops him on the rail, apron legdrop gets
two. They brawl, hurranconranna Shard, and locks in a
crossface. Sage rolls him for two. Shard goes up, missile
dropkick gets two. A second one is met with a low blow, butterfly
suplex gets two. Shard hits a splash in the corner off the
reversed whip, Sage is put on top, Shard is dropped off. Sage
wants to pin him but PHD wants Shard to TAP. So, Sage locks in a
bearhug. Chokeslam attempt is blocked, wheelbarrow DDT by
Shard. Jawbreaker by Shard, Russian leg sweep gets two.
Full nelson by Sage, but Shard with the tornado flatliner and gets the
pin outta nowhere! Shard chases PHD to the back as Morgan checks
on Sage.
WINNER and STILL CHAMP: Michael Shard pin -> 15:30 mins. ***¼
The Uninvited - Rip Mystic & Tom Arson vs. 4GQ - Rev. Guy Smith
& Spotlight Spencer Powers w/ Cherry Malone - Well I'm surprised
Guy Smith and SSP are teaming at all considering the brawl they had two
weeks ago in Brawltoberfest. RON ain't here thankfully, but
Cherry is carrying a squirt bottle that MOAV calls "holy water".
Rip & Guy start the match. Rip takes him down and walks on
him. Heh. Tag SSP, tag Arson. Arson shoves him, whip
splash in the corner. Tag Rip, he throws him for a back body drop
for two. Dropkick Rip gets two. SSP charges but eats a
boot, clothesline Rip gets two. Rip with a ten punch in the
corner, slugs Guy but gets slugged back. Oops. Arson comes
in but the ref puts him out as 4GQ makes an illegal switch.
Double clothesline gets two, Guy with his own clothesline and tags
SSP. SSP drops Rip on his head, but Rip grabs the groin muscle
and slams him. SSP stops that with a butterfly suplex for
two. Tag Guy, SSP with a choke, as Arson complains and the heels
double team Mystic in the corner. Tag SSP, slam, second rope
legdrop gets two. Rip comes to life with a choke and jumping
enzuigiri. Tag Arson but SSP beats him down and hits the
clothesline, tag Guy. Arson reverses the whip and clotheslines
him down, slam gets two. Arson clothesline misses, belly to belly
slam Guy. Tag SSP, crossbody attempt is blocked, Arson with the
slam. Tag Mystic and Smith. Rip slugs away, whip to the
corner, double knees! Suplex Rip, chicken wing, but SSP breaks it
up with a dropkick. All four in, Arson goes to the floor and may
have hit his head. SSP with a flying clothesline on Mystic for
two. Smith stomps away, second rope, spinaround moonsault
MISSED! Amazingly no problems between SSP and Smith the whole
match. Arson in, slam, side slam, BOOTS on Smith and SSP!
Tag Mystic, cloverleaf and elbow double team gets two. Arson with
a kick, Liberty Spike piledriver on Smith! SSP hits the
Unprettier on Mystic! Powers clothesline. Mystic with an
impaler DDT on SSP! Smith drops Arson. Powers and Arson are
the legal men. Mystic has Guy Smith on top, Blue Thunder from the
top! Arson and Rip with the Heart Attack double team! Arson
whips Smith, Mystic ram in the corner, forward slam. Mystic and
Arson on opposite corners, Mystic 450, Arson splash and it's a double
pinfall!
WINNERS: The Uninvited pin -> (1-0) 18 mins. ****
Oh but the celebrating doesn't last long as the Hot Boyz hit the
ring! Scotty Cash and Benz pound away, Benz dumps Arson
out. Smith and SSP are fighting up the aisle! Cash with a
side slam on Mystic. Opposite corners, double elbow on
Mystic! Arson back in, and the Hot Boyz take off.
The Verdict: Nothing special with the matches tonight, the last
two being the standouts and mainly build up for November Reign.
Being they aren't gonna make a video release of Brawloween, they should
throw the last two matches in as DVD extras at some point. Needed
another match though.
Thumbs up.
