The Rap Sheet - from the Crimefighter
New Midwest Wrestling's New Year's Resolution II
1/24/2K4 - Springfield, IL

THIS is winter??? Seems like spring to me...oh wait, is that SNOW FALLING?

This rap sheet is posted in news:rec.sport.pro-wrestling.info and http://rap-sheet.tripod.com as well at NMW's own forum on http://www.newmidwest.com/forum--except for the fact that just when I finished this report the hosting company used by NMW shut down their web hosting company without warning and now NMW has NO webhost now. In the meantime, there's the Yahoo! group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NewMidwest

I know the northeastern area of the country has been hit with record cold and snowfall, but around here, it's been HARDLY a winter. Record high temps and hardly any snow, in fact New Years weekend got up to 70 degrees and I could see bugs flying around outside. A couple of times during the month it got really cold but so far, it's been brief. Course, the day AFTER this show, winter finally comes and dumps a few inches of snow. My Christmas was effectively ruined by food poisoning. I was supposed to travel out of state, and about four hours before leaving in the middle of the night the belly was burning badly and I ended up losing yesterday's dinners. Feeling too sick to travel and thinking I had the stomach flu the trip was aborted leaving me spending the week in recovery. With all the talk about mad cow disease, you are more likely to get food poisoning than mad cow. And I had to buy new transportation as well, previous winters and all the road salt get behind the plastic panels of my ride and ate so much of the metal that the car could have collapsed on me at some point. Restoring it is taking FOREVER too, thus I picked up a new vehicle that gets even better gas mileage than the old one.

WQLZ has been heavily promoting NMW the week leading up to the show. Alas I don't listen to WQLZ, cause it's too raunchy for me. Hard rock/heavy metal is not the type of music I listen to, and the morning show crew is basically like Howard Stern of sorts. Course on the final day of the week, they tease various members of the crew being in the corners of particular wrestlers.

The first group of streaming videos featuring NMW talent have appeared on www.clickwrestle.com. These were all from the Free Admission One show outside in Edinburg back in July, where it was a dog gone pressure cooker that day. The bloody heat put a damper on most of the matches, so it's not the best of the best there. Alas the backlog of videos they have to put up is delaying release of the better matches from Free Admission Two. Anyway, all those people who read this review on rec.sport.pro-wrestling.info can now see our talent in the ring.

And now I must address a little mess down south. I have no other appropriate place to do it at the moment, being that I was holding off until whichever sheet I'm writing called for it to be discussed. I dunno HOW, but some people seem to want to incorporate me into wrestling storylines, regardless of the fact that I'm merely a spectator and not employed with ANY wrestling company to this day. NMW wrestler Sage Ramsey has "won a world title". Actually an existing fed, Rampage Championship Wrestling, of whom he wrestled for and a few shows I've attended and reviewed, has had a change in ownership. The promoter, Frank Reed has fallen ill and requires some sort of surgery. Dunno what exactly is giving him health problems, but he has handed ownership to his son Ronald Root. But I'm getting a little ahead of myself here. Before all this went down, some anonymous person started posting messages, apparently from an ISP in Collinsville, where the "mole" claimed he was taking over the promotion. And the guy pisses me off so much I refuse to state his name, but the creep is shady and apparently is a cop too. After we all took shots at the mole for being an anonymous troll, a week or so later, their designated champion at the time went around saying that the mole was the Crimefighter, ME, that I was wanted to take over and run Rampage Championship Wrestling! Despite the gaping holes in that claim, which include the facts that I prefer NMW, that I live in Springfield, that I don't want to run a wrestling promotion cause there's no money in it, among other things, he still persisted with it, defaming me in the process until the real mole finally emerged. After the show in December, the Root had a little meeting with the roster and laid out a laundry list of stuff, most of which Dexter Poindexter listed in his excellent column at this location:

http://www.freewebs.com/dexterpoindexter/monthlycolumn.htm

The Root, along with a short-lived ex-WCW wrestler calling himself Ali Stevens (whom I've NEVER heard of) ran their mouths about do's and don'ts, many of the don'ts Root violated himself. I personally am pissed at Root himself for his conduct, he had no business trying to paint me as the mole, same goes for the shady cop who cusses like a drunken sailor. He also had no business saying that crap at that meeting, especially since he doesn't practice what he preaches. Dexter, by the way, has quit the promotion, along with a few others. This of course was a few months after they lost most of the roster after a dispute in late spring. So, the person who was acting as webmaster, shady cop's manager Lee Miller abruptly quit and deleted RCW's website. This led me to believe that RCW has gone out of business--not hard to believe considering the bad karma and the depleted roster. A few weeks later, someone posts a message that Sage Ramsey had won a world title, and he won it for the National Wrestling Federation. Say what? When'd that happen? The National Wrestling Federation, from what I remember was a Midwestern indy fed that ran shows in the 1980s and 90s, and I attended one of their shows back in 1999. The roster at that time included a number of wrestlers who currently wrestle out of St. Louis, the Searcher, Marcus Mansfield, Hollywood Stud, Cowboy Bob Orton, Ron Powers, and there were some WWF alumnus booked as well. As far as I know, the old NWF closed shop about the year 1999 or so. Further research dug up another NWF that ran out of New York in the early 70s. This new NWF doesn't appear to have any connection with the old NWF. So this new NWF materializes out of nowhere, and before they even have a show, they name who the first title holders will be without holding any sort of tournaments to create the first champions. Why? Not a clue. When I posted a note on THEIR message board asking a number of PERFECTLY VALID QUESTIONS they got all defensive of themselves and deleted it off without answering. Major red flag waving! And the rosters consist of a number of names that were with RCW when it shut down. If this NWF is simply the renaming of RCW, they did not retain the previous title holders, which ended up being Steve Montana as heavyweight champ, Brutality Inc. as tag champs, Mr. Haunt as hardcore champ, and Doug O'Shea as TV champ. The new title holders have been designated as Sage Ramsey as heavyweight champ, "The SEALS" as tag champs, and Doug O'Shea as IL champ. They put up for sale posters of Sage Ramsey as the NWF world heavyweight champ (not a legit world title, heavyweight is enough) pictured with his NMW tag title of all things. They quickly took it down however, when people started calling them on it. Who's running the promotion? I had thought it was Ali Stevens and the Root, and Lee Miller. They scheduled their first show a week after this NMW show, but cancelled out after "discovering" the venue they were gonna use was "too small". Umm, yeah. And of course, Lee Miller is feuding with his cousin Butch Fletcher still, who incidentally is trying to establish his own group called Mid America Extreme after leaving RCW. Miller apparently is trying his hardest to keep MAX from getting off the ground. Though I like Sage Ramsey holding a title, it's worthless if the promotion is pretty much seen as "vaporware". So until they actually HAVE a show, I cannot recognize the legitimacy of the title at this time. His first "title defense" was supposed to be against Ali Stevens, and the first show now supposedly will occur in late February. We'll see if that ever happens, but I'm not holding my breath.

By the way, if a wrestling fed pays you less than the minimum wage per hour, stay well away from them, it's just as bad as working as a telemarketer paid under straight commission!

Your ring announcer is Jimmy "The Bruiser" Osbourne. Your president is Jason Devall. Your referees are PT Starbody, James Welden, Ricky the Ref and The Colonel. And let's quickly look at the top contenders list put together by me: Heavyweight Champ: Real World Jeremy. #1 Guy Smith, #2 Brad Stephens, #3 Dredd Walker, #4 LPC, #5 El Diablo Silverado. Central IL Champ: Billy Morgan. #1 Eric Logan, #2 Tom Arson, #3 Earl Grissom, #4 Sage Ramsey, #5 Doug Fraze. This also designates them as contenders 6-10 for the heavyweight belt. Tag Champs: The NEW Church of RON. #1. Sage Ramsey & Jason Wells, #2 Eric Logan & EDS, #3 The NEW Sigma Omega Beta, #4 Billy Morgan & JJ Tank, #5 The Hot Boyz.

A first for me, I managed to lug my father to this show, who has never been to an NMW event. Parts of those fan-cam videos were about all he's seen. Before the show began, we were all treated to a presentation put on by the Shudo Khan Karate Club. They demonstrated a number of karate moves, did some board breaking, and then brought in two men from Bosina who did a short karate fight that featured a number of moves that are used in pro wrestling, which all had different names. I guess a karate background gives you a good moveset to import into the wrestling ring.

The video wall gets our attention, as it flashes some graphics then goes to a video in the back. Jason Devall is chatting with Cherry Malone about her having a different role. Devall says Cherry's contract is with Billy Morgan and not him or NMW so she's out of luck. Guy Smith comes in wanting to know why he's not booked for a match tonight. Guy says he's the big man on campus and moneymaker for NMW and the one everyone comes to see. Toga Steve walks in, he says he's already got a match tonight but he's willing to do double duty cause he's been wanting to face him for a long time. Devall cuts him off and says Toga will get his chance later, but he has someone in mind for Smith in a Springfield Street Fight. Cherry quips that at least someone gets respect around here, Smith then asks Cherry to be his new valet. Scotty Cash then comes in and asks what his match is tonight. It's SOB and...Scotty Cash. Cash notes that someone attacked his partner Benz. Cash is looking for whoever did it. Toga tells him he was looking forward to the match and is disappointed this occurred. Cash says he will find out who did it.

I turn around and guess who's there, it's Michael Shard! I thought he was heading to Canada? Well apparently All Canadian Wrestling hasn't started up yet so we're still counting the days before he makes his debut up there. Some guy is on the opposite side of the arena wearing a red mask. What's that about? Wrestler in disguise waiting to lunge at someone perhaps.

Drive Thru (0-1) - Red (0-0) 5'9" 197lbs. Decatur, IL & Coop (0-0) 5'11" 304lbs. Decatur, IL w/ Peter McDonald Sanders vs. "The Marvel" Shane Matthews (0-3) 6'0" 195lbs. Atlantic City, GA & Hardcore KC (0-2) 5'7" 170lbs. Kansas City, MO (debut) - This PMS guy thinks he's a comic or something, he's still trash talking like crazy. Matthews and KC have yet to win a singles match and just decided to hook up for this tag match. Jimmy intros Sanders as Peter Sanders McDonald this time. Hmmm...the PMS references must have bugged him too much, cause he's screaming at everyone saying how much they suck. Drive Thru jumps KC & Shane, Red beats on KC, double whip, clothesline misses, double crossbody by KC. KC and Red are gonna start officially. Whip clothesline KC, slam, kick suplex. Tag Shane, Red with a rake, tag Coop. Choke by Coop, Shane with a takedown, drop kick, tag KC. Assisted moonsault hopping off Shane's hands by KC that almost missed the target gets two. Enzuigiri by KC, tag Shane who's up top, dive barely connects on Coop getting two. Coop with a back body drop, tag Red. Punch from the second rope, suplex by Red gets two. Tag Coop, slugaway in the corner, slam Coop elbowdrop gets two. Tag Red, slam, double team splash elbow combo gets two. Red Irish whip Shane flips over Red, but he nails KC and Shane to prevent a tag. Red whip clothesline gets two. Tag Coop, whip a very sloppy attempt at a slam gets two, he tries it again, same result and they're both down. Sheesh, this ain't good. Tag KC, tag Red, KC with a clothesline, hip toss, drop kick. Clothesline on Coop, drop kick. PMS is up on the apron, KC attacks him, double clothesline on Red & Coop. All four are in, Coop with a rake on Shane, KC whacks on Red, double whip Drive Thru collision. Shane slugs away on Coop, LOW BLOW! PMS trips KC, he chases after him, Drive Thru double team flap jack neckbreaker on Shane...looked like the 3-D! And it's over! But KC was the legal man! Sloppy as heck match. Well its obvious these guys need work, Coop should drop some weight to improve his dexterity.

WINNERS: Drive Thru pin -> (1-1) 7:50 mins. *¼

Oh it's not over, they continue to beat on Shane until KC runs them off. Someone quipped that it's a wonder that Coop didn't have a heart attack. Yeek. Another video on the wall, it's Cash and LPC. Cash asks him if he knows anything about Benz, he says he's been there preparing. Devall comes in, LPC says he's ready for gold, Devall says he can't let him go out and wrestle. Billy Morgan beat the crap out of him last month, he points to that scar on his knee and the scar on his knee. Devall says he can't afford to lose another talent and let him wrestle in the condition he's in so he is pulling him out of the match and saving him for a later date. LPC is pissed off. Crowd boos.

Okay, here's the instant analysis I wrote on their board. LPC was yanked from the CI Title match that he had secured back in November. The reason was that he had a scar on his knee, which indicated knee damage. Now, lets run some comparisons here. Who else has been suffering from knee damage? That's right REAL WORLD JEREMY. In fact the damage suffered from Nov. Reign II was really bothering him bad in December, and there was some talk that he would just vacate the title. This is a reason why the Prez decided to give all the champs the month off to recover from the brutal contests they were in from November. Now, LPC the last time he wrestled, back in November, was moving around better on that leg at the end of the show than Jeremy was. In December, LPC played Santa but was attacked by Morgan's crew. Yeah they damaged his knee some before Real World Jeremy ran out and beat the crap out of Morgan Security. Was LPC having trouble walking well after the attack, don't remember, but I think he walked it off. Did he lose medical clearance to wrestle in January after SIX WEEKS of rest? Usually it's six weeks average time that a broken bone heals up. So unless something went horribly wrong during any rehab or training during that SIX WEEKS, or unless more than a few people were observing LPC having difficulty walking around that Saturday afternoon the Prez really did not have a valid reason to pull him out of the match at the last minute. But I have to make note of two other people who were allowed to wrestle in December that I would have been very reluctant to let wrestle. Sage Ramsey had a concussion, and got in the ring THREE weeks afterward, and after seeing the blows he was taking to the head I was real worried he was gonna have a second concussion or else prolong the first one. And Jason Wells, was said to be battling a serious illness and ended up going to the hospital a couple days later for it. Dunno what exactly the illness was, but given the flu epidemic that was going around the country, I'd be real hesitant to have let him wrestle cause it could had been passed to Guy Smith, the referee, and people in the crowd. Looking at these three items...LPC had EVERY REASON to be pissed off about being pulled from the CI Title match. There's more, but I have to stop here or I'll spoiler the ending of the CI Title match. Okay that was pretty good for a playing sports analyst.

Tricky Dick Moore (1-0) 5'10" 180lbs. Beaverdale, PA vs. JJ Tank (1-2) 6'2" 265lbs. Moline, IL w/ Kev G - Cherry Malone is no longer with Morgan Security, cause Billy Morgan doesn't know how to treat women properly. It's a cruiserweight versus a heavyweight! Some guys in the corner have PWO signs...PIMP WORLD ORDER. Hmmm...wonder if I should do a PWO graphic for him. Lockup, shove Tank. Headlock, takedown Moore, armbar, hammerlock, armdrag. Irish whip reverse BIG BOOT from Tank. Side suplex by Tank, belly to belly suplex, slam. Tank whip reverse, drop toe hold by Tricky, OK Roll gets two. Small package Tricky gets two. Clothesline Tank, elbow, suplex, whip tilt-a-whirl face slam. Moore comes back with a drop kick off a whip, crossbody, swinging neckbreaker gets two. Elbow, he goes up, Kev G crotches him with the ref distracted. Great...not. JJ goes up with him but gets shoved down, tornado DDT by Moore, but JJ hits a pumphandle slam and pins him.

WINNER: JJ Tank pin -> (2-2) 5:05 mins. **

NMW Tag Team Championship
The NEW Cult of RON (6-2) Kincaid, IL - "Don't call me the Khaos Kidd no more" Steven Bishop (2-7) 5'7" 200lbs. & The Apostle Jakob (0-1) 5'11" 252lbs. w/ RON vs. "Insert Tag Team Name Here" - Eric Logan (8-7) 5'10" 173lbs. Palm Springs, FL & El Diablo Silverado (10-8) 5'8" 173lbs. Beardstown, IL (1-1) - Yeah, the team of Logan and EDS are looking for a name for their tag team. My choices were: "The Lunar Eclipse" and "The Starboards". Rationale for Lunar Eclipse--the moon changes color from orange to silver and back, which is their team colors, plus they are high flyers and thus would block the moon. Rationale for the Starboards, a starboard is an alcoholic drink consisting of orange juice, orange Slice, silver-colored 7-Up, scotch, rum, lemon juice and sugar mixed together--which is the color scheme of this tag team. However they have officially decided on "Tuff-n-Stuff". Eh? That doesn't seem to uniquely identify these two from any other tag team who'd use the name. They do their flips from the top rope. EDS has new ring attire. RON has the mike, oh boy. He babbles about some crap about Logan and EDS new tag team name, I can't figure out WHAT exactly he said. EDS and Bishop start. Lockups, armbars exchanged, shove, drop toe hold splash by Logan. Reverse DDT by Bishop gets one. Leg drop Bishop, action gets too fast to follow, tag EDS, double whip back body drop, legdrops get two for EDS. EDS whip flying headscissors, Frankensteiner EDS, wheelbarrow bulldog gets two. Irish whip and RON is seen pulling down on the top rope in view of the ref and EDS goes sailing out. EJECT RON NOW! Flapjack Bishop, Jakob with a back breaker on Bishops knee. Guess there was a tag somewhere. Jakob with a slam gets two, suplex gets two. Whip clohtesline Jakob, tag Bishop, axe handle on the elbow. Chokehold by Kidd, chop. Bishop whip crossbody EDS gets two. Side suplex by EDS, Kidd knocks Logan off, then we have an illegal switch while the ref puts Logan out. Jakob whip yank down by EDS, RON yanks Logan off. Suplex Jakob, tag Kidd, whip back tackle of some sort by EDS. Tag Logan, clotheslines by Logan, rolling fireman's carry drop, moonsault on Jakob gets two. Flying heel kick is blocked, facebuster by Kidd gets two that's broken up. Bishop with a slam on EDS, Bishop goes up gets crotched as Jakob goes flying over the top rope. EDS messes up some move, then hits an inverted suplex for two. Jakob breaks it up. Logan and EDS hit stereo Juvy Drivers, they go up, and the cult bails! And they are heading for the back! The referee is counting and they don't go after them, and it's a cheap wussy countout to save the cult's butts. LAAAAAAMMMMMMEEEEEEE.

WINNERS: Eric Logan & El Diablo Silverado countout -> (2-1) 9:15 mins. ***¼

Triple Threat #1 Contenders Match

Dredd Walker (13-7-1) 5'11" 210lbs. Purgatory w/ PHD vs. Danger Doug Fraze (4-5) 6'6" 275lbs. Chicago, IL vs. "Designated NWF Heavyweight Champ" Sage Ramsey (5-6) 6'4" 268lbs. Peoria, IL - That's not intended to be a smear against Ramsey, it's a smear against NWF's owners. Anyway, Sage lost the #1 contenders match last time where he was hampered by the after-effects of a concussion suffered three weeks earlier. Oh yeah, the winner gets a title shot, this doesn't make them the mathematical #1 contender. It's the #3 contender verses the #9 and #10 contenders in the grand scheme of things. Doug has the mike, he's complaining that it should be a one on one match against Dredd Walker and greasy-haired garbage bag wearing Sage Ramsey shouldn't even be in this match. He says Dredd stole his $1,000 bonus check last month, he had lots of plans with the money, he was gonna donate to a number of charities, then wants Dredd out here so he can take that check off his butt. PHD now has the mike and says they had plans for the money too, it was all for booze and girls. PHD says there's another man in the match, he knows how to deal with Sage so they need to work together as a team two on one. Sage Ramsey has the mike and says we know what they were gonna use the money for, more cheeseburgers at McDonalds. He sees those two guys arguing like boobs, he normally likes boobs, but not in this case. Bell rings and Danger and Dredd double team Sage, double elbow, sloppy clothesline. Dredd whip clothesline misses, elbow Sage. Sage slams Danger, slams Dredd, turnbuckle smash, whip Dredd into the corner. Danger in, Sage slugs away, Danger tries to spear Sage but gets Dredd after a leapfrog. Sage headbutt on someone, oh geez is his head fully recovered from the concussion? Side slam Sage on someone gets two. Some MORON in the crowd is shouting "Sage Ramsey sucks!" Hmmm, I'm gonna have to do up a "Sage doesn't suck, YOU DO" sign...oh it must be that "Danger doesn't suck, YOU DO" sign guy. Sage whip BIG BOOT to the face on Danger. Chokeslam coming, Dredd sneaks around and hits an enzuigiri on Sage! Dredd works on the head, nerve hold, Dredd strikes him in the back of the head. Punch and a Russian leg sweep double team that looked messed up. Danger whip side slam on Sage. Leg drop on Sage, Dredd chokes away. Double team suplex, off the ropes knee strike, choke on the ropes. PHD helps choke him on the ropes. Rake of the face, Dredd and Danger take turns. Danger and Dredd hand full of hair and neckbreaker! More choking, Danger does it in the corner. Dredd puts Sage on the top rope, they take their time, superplex is blocked, Sage with a clothesline. Side slam on Danger gets two, Dredd breaks it up. Kick to the back of the head, Danger picks him up, punches to the head, Danger goes for the LAST RIDE!!! BAM!!! Dredd covers Sage and Danger yanks him off! Danger with a cover, Dredd yanks him off. Dredd covers him, Danger yanks him off and now they start fighting. Sage dumps them both off, PHD on the apron arguing with the ref. Dredd fetches a chair, ref takes it, Sage knocks PHD off, Dredd shoves the Colonel. Sage superkick chair into Dredd's face. Danger in, gets side slammed. Sage goes for a powerbomb on Danger and nails him with it, cover gets two Dredd breaks it up. Danger is put out of the ring, Ramsey whip Dredd misses a kick Sage grabs Dredd and drapes him over his back...FINAL FALL and it's over! Sage pins Dredd! Upset win, the #3 contender beaten by the #9 contender!

WINNER: Sage Ramsey pin -> (6-6) 11:10 mins. **¾

Guy Smith comes out for his match, and RWJ's music plays! HUH? Here's Jason Devall. Devall says Smith misunderstood him, he had his shot and he's not facing Real World, he's facing THIS WORLD. And it's NEW WORLD QUINTEN! NWQ is wearing an RWJ shirt, may be penitence for attacking his bro last year but he needs his own custom shirt. Some guy has been complaining loudly about NWQ's spot on the card being undeserved due to who he's related to. Ummm yeah, I went through the list of every match he's been in, when exactly he had the match on the card and how many times he's won a match. I find the complaints were totally baseless, and the person who posted the stuff got booted off the forum. NWQ though, sorely needs a victory.

Hardcore Match

"MPW Heavy Hitter, NMW Alpha Male" Guy Smith (15-7) 6'0" 255lbs. Rapid City, SD w/ Cherry Malone vs. New World Quinten Tyler (1-5) 5'11" 230lbs. Denver, CO - Let's remember the women who've served as the valet to Guy Smith. Hot Valet was the first, had to step down due to a tragic loss. Misty Matthews was the second, after her debut she vanished without a trace for several months, reappeared for a month, then vanished without a trace again. Emily Darling was the third, one shove from Smith caused her to disappear without a trace. So how long will Cherry Malone be Guy Smith's manager? And Smith still has a tight grip on the #1 contender ranking. Guy Smith apparently tries to leave, NWQ wants the mike and trashes Smith though I can't hear much of it. NWQ throws powder in his face! Quinten inverted atomic drop, shoulderblock gets two. NWQ with a elbow gets one. Cherry hops on the apron, Guy fetches a chair and whacks NWQ, he tries to jam his neck into the chair, luckily for NWQ it slipped out. Guy fetches the BUMP sign, looks for other weapon, ladder is pulled out, apron slam by Guy. He finds a trash can lid and whacks him. Guy gets a trash can and hits him on a toss into the ring. Guy's throwing chairs in the ring, gets in, slugs away, chair set up in the middle of the ring, puts NWQ on top, Guy goes up with him, bulldog into the chair! Pizza pan into the head! Chairshot to the back, and put a dent in it. Trash can, bam! Guy got a chair, he's setting up a makeshift table! Two chairs and the sign. Guy hits him with the BUMP in the back. Suplex coming, it's blocked, the table comes apart, NWQ hits one, then chains another into the ladder, then the third the BUMP sign table! Cherry's up on the apron, NWQ covers and gets two. Quinten grabs Malone, he does three straight suplexes on her! She NEVER learns! Smith gets the ladder, jams him into the side, Smith pickup, whip into the ladder! Guy kick, piledriver gets two! Cherry doesn't look too hurt. Belly to belly suplex into the trash can by Smith gets two. Smith whip reverse Smith goes face first into the ladder! NWQ goes up the ladder, he's yanked down, Smith goes up, axe handle is blocked, KICK WHAM PEDIGREE NWQ! Smith kicks out of it! No way! Quinten looks for more weapons, it's a table! That's a really goddy looking table. Quinten spits at Cherry. NWQ sets it up near a corner, Smith trash can to the gut, CYMBAL CLASH on Quinten's head. Turnbuckle ram in the corner, Smith goes up, NWQ teases doing a pedigree from the top...but Smith stops him. SLEEPER by Guy! NWQ gets out of it, Smith chokes him on the table. That table ain't holding up well, Smith on top, TURNAROUND MOONSAULT THRU THE TABLE!!! IT'S ALL OVER!!! Crowd was cheering for Smith; no one would chant "All Female" for the first time in forever. RWJ helps NWQ to the back.

WINNER: "Alpha Male" Guy Smith pin -> (16-7) 11:30 mins. ***

Stan Sallinger comes out after the ring is cleaned up for who knows what reason. He starts to say something before Earl Grissom teases his music. Stan he's gonna concentrate more on his wrestling career than his movie career. Now Earl comes out. Stan complains about Earl stealing the spotlight, Earl asks if he's worried about his camera time, Stan isn't worried he thinks the director doesn't know what he's doing. Earl states that in the movie he's got top billing and wants the poster shown, Stan doesn't want it shown, and we get the most generic looking poster, but then we get the real poster. "Grab That Pig" starring Earl Grissom and Stan Sallinger. Stan attacks Earl but gets a heel kick. Jason Devall then shows up, and notes since he took LPC out of the title match Billy Morgan has no opponent and he remembers that the family issues between the Grissom cousins were never resolved he makes a title match between Billy and Earl right now! About freakin' time, I've been advocating this match for months. Right off the bat, Devall tells Tank and Kev G they must stay in the back.

Central Illinois Championship
(c)"The UNDERachiever" Billy Morgan (6-5) 5'10" 172lbs. Riverton, IL vs. "The Cruiserweight Redneck" Earl Grissom (7-8-0-1) 5'10" 170lbs. Rushville, IL - Cherry Malone dumped Morgan last month cause he kept abusing her. Lockup, clean break, lockup Billy flips around, shoving match. Earl punches Billy and he bails. Lockup, headlock by Earl, shoveoff shoulderblock Earl, hip toss and Morgan bails again. Billy with a knee to the gut, punches, chops away, Earl flips him around and slugs him. Earl with a whip back body drop and Morgan bails. Earl goes after him and fights in the aisle, Billy with a slam on the floor, apron ram, then rams Earl back into the post. Back in the ring, suplex gets two. Butterfly armbar with the knee to the back applied, Earl slugs his way out of it. Earl whip powerslam gets two. Earl makes a wish and hits a double legdrop. Earl goes for an inverted Boston Crab, then turns it into "the porch swing" but can't hold it. Billy whip backbreaker gets two. Billy goes up, flying elbow misses. Earl whip swinging neckbreaker, Earl goes up, Billy crotches him, Billy goes up for a superplex and gets shoved off, Earl with a crossbody off the top but Billy floats it over for two. Choke on the ropes, Billy with a whip, several attempted moves are blocked, Billy with a small package, Earl turns it over and gets three!

WINNER and NEW CHAMP: Earl Grissom pin -> (8-8) 8:50 mins. ***

Bunch of guys come out from the back to celebrate, Eric Logan, EDS, Freshman, Tricky Dick, Shane Matthews, El Pollo Loco, KC. LPC is out here, gives a hug to Earl then KICK WHAM STUNNER! KICK WHAM STUNNER on El Pollo Loco, KICK WHAM STUNNER on Shane Matthews, KICK WHAM STUNNER on Tricky Dick before LPC bails and gets the mike. He asks do we have a problem with that? This was HIS night, that was HIS title, not that stupid hillbilly's night. And I notice he's wearing an "About to turn heel" shirt. He trashes Devall and Earl for the best interest of the company nonsense of not letting him wrestle, then trashes the men in the ring for not running out and helping him last month. Are you kidding me? He BLAMES them for him not getting to wrestle tonight and they can go to hell. Earl has trouble leaving the ring and falls down on the outside.

Okay, here's the rest of my analysis. Jumping over the Earl Grissom, yes it was way overdue that he get a shot at Billy Morgan's title. Pulling LPC out of the title match he secured in November to correct this oversight however was not the right thing to do. Now should LPC had KICK WHAM STUNNERED three guys besides Earl...he griped at them for not running out to stop Morgan Security beating on him. Well, was it necessary? Real World Jeremy managed to get rid of them all by his lonesome. So what more do you want? And he had an "about to turn heel" T-shirt...wonder how long he's kept that in a closet in case he ever needed to wear it. Now, there's some missing puzzle pieces that need to be found here. So after posting my original analysis, the prez chimed in with the missing pieces. To sum it up, on RWJ if he sat out the title would had been stripped, so he chose to wrestle. The decision to bench LPC was a decision made by him and the board of directors. The status of LPC's knee was that it was messed up in December, but a new tidbit of info was put forth that he fell down a flight of stairs after a night of drinking on New Years Eve. LPC was asked to get doctors clearance before the match, he failed to get a valid clearance document. LPC states he wasn't intoxicated that night, but when he fell he was just checking on "Bob The Sock Puppet Dragon". SOCK PUPPET DRAGON? And what about RWJ who did come out to the ring to make the save for LPC in December? Ingratefully he calls RWJ freakin' worthless cause he didn't run out there SOON ENOUGH. Yeah, RWJ had his own knee injury to worry about too, and he aggravated it when he did those pedigrees. LPC claims he's not respected either, BY WHO?

Scotty Cash's music hits after everyone else has cleared out. Cash says someone attacked Benz, and he went around asking everyone about it. So he's gonna call whoever it was that attacked Benz to come out here now if they got the balls. The Sigma Omega Beta music hits, and Cash is not surprised. Cash says he had no idea it was him, oh yes he did, he just said whoever it was who attacked Benz to come out. Toga Steve says once again he had nothing to do with it and the Freshman had nothing to do with it, and the Freshman can't kick anyone's butt. Cash calls him a liar. Someone else's music hits, who is it? It's Mr. Elite! Cash asks what the heck he's doing here? Someone calls him Lance. Mr. Elite mumbles some words before Cash tells him to speak up. Mr. Elite says he's the reflection of perfection. Cash says did he say he was the reflection of exertion? Cash asks him if HE attacked Benz, no he says, cause he's for fairness and he saw them laughing and snickering in the back and doesn't think Toga's paddle was for him to use on the Freshman. Cash agrees so he allows him to be the substitute partner for tonight.

The NEW Sigma Omega Beta (1-1) - "Toga" Steve Fisher (3-4) 5'10" 240lbs. Carbondale, IL & "The Freshman" Matt Boston (0-1) 5'8" 120lbs. Carbondale, IL vs. Scotty Cash (6-8) 5'9" 170lbs. & Mr. Elite (0-0) ?'??" ???lbs. Parts Unknown - We haven't seen Mr. Elite since the Rumble. The referee won't allow Toga Steve and Scotty Cash to start the match, so it's Mr. Elite and Boston. Sign: "Toga = Ratings". Elite shoves Boston down repeatedly, hits a knee and stomps away. Belly to belly suplex by Elite, forearms, whip back body drop. Suplex by Elite, whip clothesline misses, Boston with a wheelbarrow bulldog. Elite tries to stop Boston from tagging out but the Freshman gets away and tags Toga. Toga demands Elite tag Cash and out comes Benz! Benz says Elite did it! Elite gets whacked with a cane, Toga clobbers Elite, whip into Cash with a boot, Cash lifts Elite on his shoulder and drops him face first, clothesline out of the ring. Mr. Elite runs away and we're cheated out of the match we wanted to see. BAH HUMBUG!

WINNERS: The NEW Sigma Omega Beta countout -> (2-1) 4:40 mins. ¼*

Mr. Elite wasn't even booked, and he goes and steals a spot in a match. Benz's knee is wrecked. The Hot Boyz and the Frat Boyz share a group hug.

"Rather Charming" Bradley Stephens (6-3) 6'0" 225lbs. Las Vegas, NV vs. Jason Wells (4-6) 6'0" 230lbs. Kansas City, MO - Stephens thinks he's not getting the respect he deserves either, or at least not paying enough attention to him. Wells apparently injured Stephens badly years ago. Sign: "I rode off your girlfriend for THIS?" HUH? Shoving to start, clothesline, back body drop, and clothesline out of the ring by Wells. Brad pulls Wells out, choke on the rope, rope burn, stomps away. Brad with a whip reversed powerslam Wells gets two. Suplex Wells gets one, locks in the camel clutch briefly, slam, legdrop gets two. Suplex by Brad, fist drop, choke, sleeper, drop kick into the back gets two. Brad goes back to the sleeper, Wells breaks out with a side suplex, full nelson but Brad gets the ropes. Whip reversed Brad with a throw down face first gets one. Brad slugs away, whip clothesline in the corner. Whip Brad, Wells crashes face first into the ropes. Wells with a slingshot into the bottom rope, now it's a slugfest. Wells goes for the Whiplash fireman's carry slam and catches the ref in the side of the head on the swing. Ugh. Wells goes up, barely hits a moonsault and has no one to count it. Brad goes out and gets a chair then nails Wells in the gut and the back. Brad pulls the ref over and counts three. BLEH! Crowd was not into this match at all.

WINNER: "Rather Charming" Bradley Stephens pin -> (7-3) 9:15 mins. **½

The prez comes out here again. He introduces Rip Mystic! He's been out for six months due to a bad back injury. He thanks us for not forgetting who he is. He's got good news and bad news, the good news is that in February he has been cleared to wrestle. The bad news is that everyone in the locker room whoever his opponent is he feels really bad for them. One more month of physical therapy and watching Jerry Springer, he's serving notice to everyone in the back that no one can rise up to Rip Mystic. And someone DOES come out, it's Mississippi Madman Don Jackson! The graphic says "Madman Attacks" with him attacking the state capitol. Jackson confronts Mystic, who says "Fe fi fo fum, which beanstalk did he fall from?" Mystic thinks he didn't come out to congrat him on a well-cut promo, then LOW BLOWS him! Mystic slugs away, but Jackson whips him to the corner, side slam Jackson. Devall gets in Jackson's face and Jackson slugs him down. He's not done, has Mystic in a choke, Mystic spits in his eye, tries a clothesline, another poke to the eye, Jackson blocks a superkick and hits a Baldo Bomb! He's not done, 400 pound splash on the back! Devall begs for him to quit, but Jackson splashes him three times! Sadistic people in the crowd wanted Jackson to dive on him from the top rope. Jackson screams that nobody's safe from him! These sadistic people in front of me wanted Jackson to do more damage. Michael Shard shows up on the apron! Jackson decides to leave, Shard and Devall check on Mystic and call for the stretcher. Jimmy "The Bruiser" stood in the corner this whole time and surprisingly never was threatened once by Jackson's rage. CRAP CRAP CRAP! Grrrrr...if Jackson was booked for a match this month maybe this wouldn't have happened, cause THAT'S why he says he's so mad.

Now it's main event time, and WQLZ's morning show crew have been heavily promoting NMW all week. As of Friday, there was talk of certain members of the crew being in various corners. I can't recount what went down that morning cause I had to tune out and sit in a meeting but somehow Mikey was recruited to be Arson's manager and Ray Lytle was recruited to be RWJ's manager. Mikey's wearing a shirt that says "I'm with Tom Arson" complete with arrow. Mikey has the mike, orders us to shut up. He wants to get something straight, Tom Arson will be the new heavyweight champ, chants drive him nuts, he wants to wish RWJ the best despite all the stuff he's said and did on the radio, he's sorry. Ray Lytle, the 400-pound host of the Morning Disaster, the raunchiest radio program in Springfield! Mikey wants to shake hands but RWJ refuses, Lytle gets in the face of Arson.

NMW Heavyweight Championship
(c)Real World Jeremy (11-3-1) 6'2" 242lbs. Denver, CO w/ WQLZ Ray Lytle vs. "Trendsetter" Tom Arson (7-8) 6'5" 260lbs. St. Louis, MO w/ WQLZ Mikey - RWJ keeps having problems with his knee, and the opposition keeps going after it. It's gonna get to the point where he's gonna wreck someone elses knee bad to warn anyone who's tempted to tear up his knee further. Arson stalls like mad, I wish RWJ would just attack him from behind. People are chanting the call letters of other radio shows. We finally get a wristlock into the ropes, Arson stalls some more. Lockup into the corner, clean break. Arson's got the mike, he demands that we keep it down, he's trying to win some gold. And Ray Lytle throws him in! Slugfest in the ring, clothesline RWJ. Arson begs off, whips RWJ by the pants into the ropes. Mikey's got a chair! Ray Lytle chases Mikey off and take the chair. Arson chokes RWJ then goes after the bad knee. You'd think he'd wear more protection on that leg, Arson yanks on it. Jeremy's in trouble early, ref has an encounter with Mikey, Arson nails Jeremy. Mikey is running interference. RWJ in the corner, Arson kicks the knee, hangs it over the rope and twists it. RWJ with a shot to break it up, but gets tied up a bit. Arson whip clothesline turns him inside out! Arson elbow to the knee. Arson drops elbows on the knee, pickup, whip spinebuster gets two! Legdrop by Arson gets two. Seems the ref was hesitant here. Arson waits for RWJ to get up, kicks his leg out again. Ray Lytle goes after Mikey who can't stop poking his nose in things, Arson gets the figure four, Mikey helps pull, Ray chases him off, RWJ nearly pins himself. No way Ray can catch anyone running with 400lbs of weight. Ray slaps Arson. RWJ pounds the mat, better be careful someone could think that was a tap out...RWJ turns the hold over but Arson has easy reach for the rope. RWJ can't even stand, Arson goes for the leg again, elbow. Arson picks him up, slugs him in the head, whip boot to the face! Arson goes to the top rope...splash off the top misses! Surprised he didn't go for the moonsault. RWJ blocks a punch and slugs away with a knockout punch, clothesline. RWJ limps around, whip powerslam gets two. 13 minutes have gone by. RWJ ten punch count in the corner. Arson flops down, RWJ just stands there, whip big time spinebuster gets two! "Ref you suck" chant for James Welden. RWJ has Arson in the corner, whip out of the corner, Welden runs to THAT corner from the other side of the ring and of course Welden gets crushed by Arson whipped there by Jeremy. You gotta be kidding me! RWJ with a pedigree but Welden is out. Ray Lytle tries to wake up Welden. Sheesh I dunno why he just runs to that corner, he claims he needs a "better view". Well heck, I had a GREAT view of it from where I was sitting! And now he's mad cause I've been criticizing him heavily for it. Mikey whacks RWJ with a chair! He tosses the chair to Arson from the apron, Ray Lytle comes up from behind Mikey. Arson grabs RWJ and gives him a LIBERTY SPIKE PILEDRIVER ON THE CHAIR! Welden's still out however, and Mikey gets in the ring, he slaps the ref's hand a couple times before Lytle pulls him off. Mikey's just laughing at him, Lytle argues with him but Mikey LOW BLOW KICKS HIS BOSS! Arson goes for another piledriver, ARRRGH LIBERTY SPIKE PILEDRIVER ON THE CHAIR AGAIN! Welden is back with it enough that he counts a slow three...

WINNER and NEW CHAMP: Tom Arson pin -> (8-8) 17:35 mins. ***

A lot of people were cheering Arson, I had to boo to remind them who the heels were. Arson and Mikey celebrate, Lytle's down on the floor, Arson's not done! ANOTHER LIBERTY SPIKE ON THE TITLE BELT!!! DARN HIM! BOOOOO!!! Ray Lytle comes in but it's way too late. Scotty Cash and Quinten come in the ring to check on RWJ and help get him out of the ring, the stretcher gets brought out. They play his music anyway. This was by far the WORST defeat I've ever seen RWJ have.

Jason Devall calls in the WQLZ Morning Disaster on Monday morning. Ray Lytle apologizes for the behavior of Mikey (uh, ya know what maybe the punishment for Mikey should be that he must take the place of Jim the Photographer's stuntwork for a week). Devall reveals that Rip Mystic's back was wrecked from Mississippi Madman's vicious attack and will be out ANOTHER 90 days at least. Real World Jeremy's injuries are that his knee is wrecked and his neck is wrecked from taking three piledrivers on metal objects. There's a lot of talk about reviewing tapes as if the decision is going to be overturned or something. Hmmm...

And now the rankings at the end of the evening. Heavyweight champ: Tom Arson. #1 RWJ, #2 Brad Stephens, #3 Guy Smith, #4 LPC, #5 Dredd Walker. Central IL champ: Earl Grissom. #1 EDS, #2 Eric Logan, #3 Billy Morgan, #4 Sage Ramsey, #5 Scotty Cash. Tag team champs: The NEW Church of RON. #1 Ramsey & Wells, #2 Tuff-n-Suff, #3 NEW Sigma Omega Beta, #4 Drive Thru, #5 Billy Morgan & JJ Tank.

The verdict: Two title changes, almost three tonight. The matches though were not the best, though overall better than December. Several bouts were of the three star level, nothing got above that for some reason, at least the way I looked at it. Despite that, the show flowed evenly and kept me entertained throughout so it's thumbs leaning up. But geez, this crowd was one of the most pro-heel crowds I've ever seen at an NMW show.
